So I realized today that if you see DTs in your base but have no detection, but have some banelings, if you run them to where the DTs are and press X to destruct them, you can kill the DTs.

Sounds like a feasible solution if you have banelings only :)
I rather have an overseer / spores and plenty units by the time a toss visits my mineral line with DTs!
Seriously?!?!?! Moosh why are you finding all this stuff out now?
Hahahahaha, when I was terran, I had hellions, and no energy for detection, so I attacked my buildings, spraying fire over where I knew the DTs were.
Killed some, but there were too many.
Sounds interesting... reminds me I never understood why spider mines could go after Dark templars when those didn't have detection? seems like now Zerg have sort of a similar mechanic but now it's manual.
Spider mines were not detectors themselves, but had detection for cloaked / burrowed units on the ground. I used to use reaver shots on my buildings at a certain angle to splash DTs. Even Archons could be used that way!
In SC2, anything with splash damage can be used the same way.

Spider mines ARE detectors. They are built by the lowerst bidder, and don't have an advanced enough data link to share this information with other units on the battlefield
( lore... meh... )
