Patch 15 Notes

In all seriousness the tanks are still super powerful, and I wouldn't be surprised if they got another nerf several months down the road. Terran players are still adjusting to what it's like to be nerfed. That's all.

Furthermore, this is beta. If you're not going to make the change now, when are you? In the first month of release? 3 months?

You have to be very careful when you're changing things after release. You can't just do anything you want. Screwing up with a balance fix post-Beta has far more dire consequences than during Beta. You can't just change something, see how it works, and dial it back if it's too much.

Indeed, that's what Beta is for. So that they can try some things. If the damage nerf is too much, they can dial it up a bit. Or play with the splash damage settings. Or whatever.

Far too many people treat this game like it's a finished product rather than a work in progress.

Here's an overly-specific style:

1: Wall-in with Barracks and Depot.
2: Get a Factory ASAP. Go for the add-on immediately.
3: Get a Siege Tank NOW and research Siege Mode.
4: Keep building Factories and produce STs, harassment units, and air defense.

Now, what game am I talking about, SC1 or SC2? Because that's what SC1 was in TvP. TvT was very similar. I don't think you can get more specific than that.

SC1 had long since devolved into "overly-specific styles".

You should all remember that Blizzard had several builds of StarCraft 2 going on at once during closed-developement. Beta is their chance to deploy different balance changes and gather data on different builds with a real population. Changes made in the game, even the last beta patch, may not even appear in the retail game. They just want to test stuff out, and like Nicol said - they do not have that sort of freedom post release. Putting in poor changes or bizzare balance changes in a beta is one thing, but doing that in a retail product that has a hugely anticipated fanbase is another..

Many pros will layer their siege in two lines to stop this from happening. Prime examples of this is Jinro's mech play style which also heavily uses ravens.
