B.net Mixes fixed teams vs random teams
I don't know If we have a post about this, if we do please deleted.
I just played, what I thought was a random 2 vs. 2 (My 2end placement match that is) And that first thing my diamond 1vs1 partner dose is to drop out :(
Anyway I try to beat them and fail :)
Half way through the game, one of them types "Revenge :)" and I'm like, did I play him before?? So after the game I check my opponents out.
I then see that the two opponents, that I just played are on a team together?!?
I ask one of them, And he says that thy thought that it was a normal fixed team match?
I think a) That this is kind of unfair,
and b) I think that it will discourage people to play random 2 vs. 2
I'm going to make a post on the B.net forum, when I get the time, and I just want to hear your peoples thought on it.
Re: B.net Mixes fixed teams vs random teams
been happening since day 1 of beta.
Re: B.net Mixes fixed teams vs random teams
I assume (not positive) that's a population issue, with only about 40k users on the US b.net at once, the matchmaking is forced to look further and further for good players, I bet it strongly prioritizes fixed 2v2 teams playing against fixed 2v2 teams, but if there are none available it will switch to random. Point being on launch day 1 over a million people hop on for the first time, your a lot more likely to get matched with ideal teams.
Your right though, fixed 2v2 vs. random is hugely imbalanced imo, I do much, much better when I'm playing with someone I know I can work with.
Re: B.net Mixes fixed teams vs random teams
Makes people wanna find a team at least. Anyone need a diamond league partner? :p

*chuckles* I think I remember the game you realized it too. It was before you got your "useful" video card, and you did a random 2v2 and went up against Ascension and I. I remember your comments being rather interesting and chuckleworthy. And as it was your first or second day playing, I dare say it will be the only time I can say that I beat ya :)
Speaking of which, you wanna rematch sometime to set the record straight and pwn my good arse, good sir?

lol yeah that is the day i realized it, when my teammate tried to bunker LoA and had nothing else besides 2 bunkers of marines.. and LoA killed him with 2 DTs, making it a 1v2 for me =[
I havent played SC2 basically in 2 weeks, besides that tournament Maul hosted which I lost cause I dont play enough =[ Dont think I will continue playing either, least until I see some improvements in bnet. Plus, I need to focus more on music, instead of wasting my time on this game.
Re: B.net Mixes fixed teams vs random teams
Like others have said, this IS a beta.
However, I fully agree that it is unfair and imbalanced.
I hope they change it for release.
Re: B.net Mixes fixed teams vs random teams
I'm sure that to make things fair, the matchmaking system picks a pair of random 2v2 players that are significantly higher-rated than the pair which is a fixed team.
And if that's not how it works, then that's how it SHOULD work. :p
Re: B.net Mixes fixed teams vs random teams
After talking to it with someone I was reminded that a blue post near the beginning of beta said this was to speed up times and testing in beta and this wouldn't be the case with release. I can't find the post right now, but I remember that clearly.
This should alleviate some concern and explain why it exists.
