Blizzard products always improve over time as history shows
Blizzard products are constantly being improved, I believed 'perfect' is relative considering it's impossible for anything to be perfect due to everyone having unique perceptions. It will live up to expectations, grow and eventually go beyond them. In my humble opinion, i think most SC fan-sites seems to be way to full of themselves (TL) and their self-importance. Just because they feel like they know a game well they know how to make a new game. Blizzard is also a company, there's a profession called Business and they must adhere to those principles while making a game. Do i agree with all the decisions? No, namely the whole chat and friend situation, however when it comes to the game i have no complaints.
The thread at BN2.0, if you'd read it, demonstrates that we don't KNOW what Blizzard is doing, because they're keeping us in the dark. Therefore we can't possibly know if their directions need changing.
We've seen and know nothing. We have absolutely no idea how Clans, Groups, and Group-chat will operate. As Gifted and n00b pointed out, it could be exactly what we're looking for. A LAN-like system is in the works according to an earlier interview, though how quickly it'll get here and how it works is still beyond us.
Practically the only thing they've been truly firm on is region lock. Which, tragic as it is, I really could live without -- they're harming themselves, not me.
BNet 2 could still be (mostly) everything we want it to be. Until they start telling us, or start showing us, what's in it... we have absolutely no idea.
I don't trust anyone to do that, so I answered No. However, I do trust Blizzard to make a top-quality sequel with excellent story and gameplay, and to release Patches to rebalance gameplay as is needed. Anyone who expected SC2 to be perfectly balanced out of the box is going to be very disappointed.Quote:
Do you trust they will make StarCraft 2 perfect
Maybe BNet wont be perfect, but SC2 will.
It's SC2. Of course I'll risk a pre-order (of the CE, no less).
Hell, I'd buy it if it had absolutely nothing in it but the single-player.
edit: but you're asking about the multiplayer... yeah, I'd still buy this game. Screwy Battle.net or no, it's STILL better than pretty much anything else on the market (for my dollar, anyway).
ok so let us pretend that instead of perfect the word "awesome" is in there
well... i only trust in my family and my friends, and even they had stab me in the back a few times xD, so why i should trust in a videogame company? =P
Well, everything besides WoW. :p But let's see what cataclysm will bring. Not that I play the game anymore (waiting for SCII), but I'm still active on my guild's forum.
I really hope Battle.net will improve, and I believe it too, but the time Blizz made landmarks in the gaming industry, is now many years back, and it would seem, we all want improvements on those specific landmarks made years back, but the internet has changed and will change (ofc) in the future, and by the looks of it it will change towards more commercializing and thus favoring big buisnesses, and the whole "keeping us in a shroud" from blizz' part is a bit worrying.
By signing more and more stuff just in order to play and use an internet-based service in a world where the internet is more and more privatised is worrying to me, I just hope for the best. (Never forget the internet was developed for military purposes back in the 70s-80, and was taken up as an academical way of sharing information afterwards, but is now almost entirely privatised.)
With Blizz' huge experience of pumping money out of people, that power combined is at a wee frightening.
Ooops... Derailing. I don't know, but I hope I'm satisfied with both B.Net and SCII.
I believe Blizzard wants SC2 to be the best game it can be, and over time it will be awesome. But I also believe they've made some stupid decisions and aren't exactly interested in fixing them or learning how to make better decisions.
I don't trust anyone really. My life experiences have taught me that I shouldn't. Then again, I too have been back-stabbed countless times by my family or the people who claim to be my 'friends'. So, no, I don't trust Blizzard. I don't trust any company or corporation no matter what they claim their intentions to be. And while I may not trust Blizzard, I hope that Starcraft will live up to my expectations.
Atm I don't really. I've been unsure of how this product will turn out after the Acti-Blizz merge (it didn't really concern me at first) and the microtransactionfest that WoW turned into during the late TBC. I'm just not sure I trust this company any more. I really hope I'm proven wrong with SC2....and we don't get something like paid name changes and server changes...
've voted for the third option, because I already see things not to be perfect in my understanding.
I'll be glad to be wrong, if they fix things.
Blizzard are trustworthy. If you can't trust them, trust me.
Its hard to make a game perfect because of conflicting interests people have. It is hard to appease to all. I personally think what were getting on launch is to my approval. Yes it sucks there won't be channel but the game has a built in IM system.
Regardless anyone you want to speak with you will most likely have other means of contacting them. If you want to talk to a person you played a game with yes its annoying you can't type in a chat command but really its not that hard to click the dropdown on their name during the score screen and select "chat".
Thread name is misleading. It asks if you trust Blizzard in general but then asks Do you trust they will make StarCraft 2 perfect in every aspect?
My opinion: They will make StarCraft 2 the best game it can be. --->Over a period of time. SC1 took roughly 5-6 years to become balanced as relatively good as it is now.
So far the ONLY thing I dislike is the lack of chat channels and contact to other unknown players.
I miss the general "command box" where you could just /r or /whois or /away etc.
So far the ladder game is moving along just as I would expect it to do, actaully much greater then I thought. Being a wc3 meele/dota player I thought the lack of heroes would make it boring, but it didn't not at all.
The only thing for me that needs reworking is frenzy and maybe ravens/point defence drone:o also, mothership cloaking needs a rework.
Balance I will leave to them. And imo it's quite good already.
I am a bit unshure about the new map publish feature where it can be hard to play with players you have just played with and so on. But I don't got any particual complains yet since there is a "non-usable" box which hopefully will fix the "ONLY popular maps get played"
TL;DL I trust them to make a great game, altough it will lack a few things thus forcing us to wait for the 2 expansions. It's a clever trick and I understand why they do it, but I totally hate it...... I mean I would buy them anyhow...........................................
I trust SC2 will be perfect but will be hamper by the new Battle.net. First barrier for Battle.net - REMOVE THE REGION LOCK. I can't imagine that I'm in the same region as Korea when my country, Singapore speaks English or his/her individual mother tongues (definitely no Korean language). Oh, and games here are in English.
I wonder if Australia is classified under Korea according to Blizzard standards.
@Oucast: Buy a US or EU client instead of the AU one.
I don't really think the question is all that relevant anymore. We have the beta sitting in our hands, and we have a very clear idea of what the final game is going to be like. Even with the problems introduced in patch 12, I already know that this is a game that I'll be playing every week for years.
So what is there to trust? As long as I can continue to play the game I'm happy.
archer, it's like the best video
from TL?
This is the shit I'm talking about, Archer. The subject of this thread is "Do you trust Blizzard?" and you're posting a clear anti-Battle.net video. What the hell? Post it in the interview thread where Mr Pearce says there's no plans for chat or some other thread bashing battle.net.
Now you're just making it clear you're spamming anything anti-Battle.net/Blizzard/StarCraft whatever chance you get
In my opinion, WoW didn't. It's getting more and more boring. It's not much more than a milk cow right...
To answer the OP's question: I used to have absolute faith in Blizzard, but the recent interviews talking about cross-realm play and chat channels make me seriously reconsider. Despite what they say, Blizzard doesn't seem to be listening very much... :( (or perhaps they're listening but don't realize how important this is to the community, and are only thinking about cashing in quickly, instead of cashing in long term...).
Blizzard have made a mistake in the beta and haven't even had a chance to rectify it. Let's all make spontaneous judgements of trust based on a few months data on a company that's been around for decades. It's not even like Battle.net 2.0 is a complete failure because I can still play games, I'm still chatting to people and I'm still getting ranked. Could it be better? Of course. /sarcasm
How does posting a video about battle.net being lonely have anything to do with "can you trust blizzard?" You're off topic and out of your mind. Stop being a fucking troll
Blizzard has made about 10 huge mistakes going back as far as 7 years ago and has ignored mountains of community feedback. In doing so they have jeapordized not only the future success of SC2 and Esports as a whole, but consumers confidence in Blizzard as a whole.
This is the exact opposite of the principles this company was built on.
- Chat channels
- Cross region play
- No LAN, even after Battle.net validation
- League system
- Clan system
To start...

7 years ago? How about we just include beta because that's when they've been active. What are the other 5?
