Sorry to bother you guys, but after completing 5 matches as each race (including random) I still don`t get this achievment. The last time I checked I only needed 2 more protoss wins to unlock the specter ... so I won 2 times with toss, it gave me the 5 toss wins achievment and that was it .. I currently have all 4 solo quick match achievments ... weird ... does enyone else have this problem ?
Sorry to say, but nobody cares about achievements. they're only put there to make players more addicted to games, and have no other scope beside enlarging e-peen.
Actually seeing achievements that don't work is something that I like, because the gaming gets into focus and the pointless "goals" of an otherwise wellworking game get the kick... For the time being...
Gah, I really hate achievement systems. When they were implemented in WoW, I already had achieved around half of them, only because I liked delving into the game, and everytime I asked people to join me in such adventures, they would always say no. After the implementation, I would get asked all the time to help them getting achievements, and because they were people who wouldn't help in the past I'd ask them why they would do those things, and they would have no answer beside: "You get an achievement."
Got a bit derailed there, but my main point is actually that after the achievements were implemented in game, I actually found myself out of ideas of what to do with my time when I wasn't raiding or gearing, and I truly believe that systemizing most availible options in game, made it more boring to play, because you couldn't any longer DISCOVER anything for yourself.
Also whenever I actually thought of doing something original, when I asked people to help, this time they would ask (like the mindless robots they were turned into): "Why? Is there an achievement?" And I would go: "No, just for kicks or fun or w/e" and then again they wouldn't help me out.
The achievement system systemizes things in such a way, that the personal emotions involved in things "turned achievements" are lost in the robotic, mindless, "next hit of drug" cold feelings they give you instead.

I like achievements. Sure, they are worthless bauble but gives nice meta ideas.
I'm what you'd call an efficient gamer, game finished, no achievements? Speedrun. Build optimisation. Loadout tweaking.
For me Achievements are nice little things to go for and they actually enrich my usual gameplay style and experience.
Yes, maybe my heart is cold and goal oriented... I'm working on it :p

Ya I some what noticed this. When you log into the game, it displays how far you are on the specter achievement. After the updated their servers, it looks like that progress got sent back to 0. In my opinion, getting achievements now, is useless. As blizzard is going to reset for release. That means achievements go too. Anyways why waste your time trying to get an achievement when beta is going to end on May 31st and start back up a couple weeks before release. I would use my game time right now to play 3v3s and 4v4s.
Unlike other games, sc2 actually gives you a reward for an achievement. That would the only reason why some people would do it. The reward isn't always worth it. At least you can get a different portrait, as the ones they give you aren't that great. That's the only reason I would do the achievements. It gives me something I wanted, so I can change my decals and portrait to something I like better.
Sorry for going a bit off topic, but I believe your problem is that they reset the progress for that achievement, on purpose or accident. Everything else appears to be fine. If I were you I would wait to get it until after release. As it won't be going anytime soon. This is beta, there will always be problems, even after release, just not as bad as this.
BusinessMonkey, I would like to second the fact that you shouldn't talk about others as if you are justified in speaking on their behalf. I personally feel that achievements bring value to the game to those who enjoy going towards them. I also personally find achievements as a "SUPPORT" system very valuable, as long as they aren't a PRIMARY system. For example, if a person says midway through a season "I'm good with any race" and I look and see they've only played 3 games as zerg over the last 3-4 months, I might consider suggesting them to play P or T as my partner. Granted, this is only because of statistics, but achievements are a way of showcasing statistics.
Ultimately though, as long as achievements created don't influence gameplay in stupid ways (such as "kill 10 different opponents with only zerglings before the game lasts 4 minutes... or for those who play WoW, the "Not in my house" achievement for WSG before it was reduced from 10 to 2) then I feel they have no problem at all

There are confirmed bugs with achievements not being rewarded correctly that they are working to fix in a future patch. This has existed since patch 13. Please be patient. ^_^

As for my opinion on the achievments (if anypne cares) -I like them - the feeling of getting some sort of reward for your effort in defeating someone (other than your opponent calling you "noob terran, LMAO") is very exciting. Even some PIMP achievments would be nice - say ... "nuklear winter" -kill a limit worht of units with nuklear bombs in say 5 games (just the first thing that comes to my mind) - this is just a fun side of the game - it`s not something that you nesseseraly need to achieve. I`m sure Blizz will add more decals and portraits eventualyQuote:

I think I end up agreeing with what you said gifted. Getting rewards for actually achieving something is a good thing, but as a thing of their own, they don't do any good.

Achievement fits what they are perfectly. You are achieving a goal, so therefore it is an Achievement.
Agreed. Rewards make achievements work and are not a waste of your precious time living. If there is no reward, there really isn't much of a point other than satisfying the need to have no blank spots on your achievement page.Quote:
