What's your favorite kind of team map?
I've noted some differences in taste in regards to maps used for allied play, and I'm curious: which style do you tend to prefer and why?
Fortress
— Our mains and naturals are in the same enclosed area, and we share a single choke, making defense a breeze.
Proximity
— Our bases are close enough to defend eachother easily, but we each have our own enclosed space and choke to one's main and/or natural.
Isolation
— Our mains and naturals are very distant, making it difficult to defend one another.

I tend to prefer Proximity, though I don't mind the occasional Isolation style.

You're probably the Proximity type then, as with SH you're close but not cramped.

I like the proximity ones..mostly cuz i hate twilight fortress and it's ilk. Never got to play on the 2v2 versions of LT, Metalopolis, or Kulas which is what I gather you kinda mean with Isolated. But those maps are better FFA maps than 2v2 maps. They do not support teamwork as much as the other ones. I prefer maps that xy = yx but x=/=x or y=/=y. Like the bases are inverted opposites instead of just opposites (One side has one base in middle and another south and the other side has one base middle and another north).

I prefer Fortress and Proximity. Isolation maps are the really hard ones to defend your ally, and is easy to pick one off and then kill the other. The other 2 you usually fall together.

I like fortress maps SOMETIMES you can either get great back and forth games or really sucky 30 minute macro 1 battle games.

Fortress. The 3v3 and 4v4 map are awesome!

I absolutely love the 3v3 map they currently have. I'm close to my allies which provides me with extra protection and a feeling of relative safety. There are only two choke points as opposed to the countless choke points on the 4v4 map. I much more protected because I can't be attacked from every angle like you can in the 4v4 map.
I prefer being close enough to my allies so that I can lend support much quicker and vice versa. Besides, I've always worked better in a team than on my own and isolation maps are is almost like playing on your own in terms of how quickly support comes. I absolutely hate isolation games because it's not really team play but more so the "near regular map with more than one person per team". But I also like playing with four people so if they could make a 4v4 map similar to the 3v3 map, I would be very happy!
So I'd say, from most to least: Fortress, proximity, and then lastly, isolation.

Ah. I thought fortress essentially meant the 3v3 map. I must have read it wrong. >.<
In that case it would be: Proximity, Isolation/Fortress.

proximity than isolation then fortress
in this order because 1. I hate sharing with partner space because they either dont listen or they build stuff over pylon power/ where I dont want it because it blocks me off.
2. sharing a choke is cool but I still hate them blocking me.
3. isolation atleast i wont get blocked and if im attacked and cant defend there is always proxy pylons to keep me in the game:D and their base when probe finally gets there
4.Fortess is best though when the above is not happening(so they dont block me basic/random build)
