Also, IIRC don't they store ammo in the shoulder parts of the CMC suits as well? Not sure how they use that ammo though, maybe it's a feeding belt.

Judging by the guns size (which is huge) and the magazine size, the magazine could easily hold about 500 rounds ( don't forget that those rounds don't have any cartridges) so the actual 8 mm bullet or the spike in this case is only about one fouth the size, of comparable 8mm amonunition in our world.

This is the cinematic Marine suit design you're talking about. The shoulder distance is wider than it is in the new design. Absolutely no way a human being would actually be able to fit inside.
