Why Blizzard? Even the old Terran adjutant sounds better than the current one.
edit:
Those are just the placeholder sounds, their the same as SC1 :/.
The gunfire is downright aweful :/
Hmm, that's one thing that's missing, sounds that *always* played when units were produced. Somehow is missing in SC2.
Wankey, go to 4:00.
Minimize youtube.
Explain.
The voiceacting, compared to all the old blizzard games, is down the hole.
The zerg sound like they had beans for dinner, the ghosts either in pain or constapated, and the protoss music is just way to ambient...
Sounds in SC2 are overall much worse that in BW, I agree. And as for Protoss...
High Templars are freaking senile. Where are the mystic monsters from the first game?!
Dark Templars fight with lashes. Their voice is ok, but it's like a villain from a kid's cartoon. Zealots are not ferocius enough.
Stalkers are ok. Immortals - too, only portrait isn't so good.
Sentries are good, but they sometimes scare shit out of me.
The only superb thing is Paul Eiding as protoss adjutant(I think it's his voice. And he is Aldaris!!!)
I'm interested to see what happens for phase 2 beta if they release the new sound for that. I've got my hopes up that it gets improved some. I can feel it, Blizzard won't punch me in the throat this time around for hoping. lol
No way Starcraft sound sucks so much. Listen to Warcraft 3:

Dude, come on. You make a thread like once a week bitching about the sound. If you want to bitch about it, post in your previous thread.
True though. You do make a thread about once a week on the exact same topic. Best part is this time you directed the thread title towards Blizzard. Wrong forum bro. =/
I play with Protoss, and I agree that unit sounds were better in SC1. They sounded much more fearsome then in SC2. Zealots, Archons, High templars... even avatars for that units were much better. The first thing I'd like to do when I get SCII is to put old sounds for some units, if that is possible.
It seems to me they changed a lot of things just for the sake of changing it, and made them worse doing so.
Your link to the warcraft 3 sounds had nothing to do with the ingame warcraft sounds. The sounds you linked are sounds that came if you spam clicked a unit alot of times, and I remember them to be quite funny when i played Wc3 back in the days.
To me the sounds in Sc2 is quite allright, when i play game after game i hardly even notice them. So i cant figure out how they can annoy u that much that u make a thread about it just so everyone knows that you dont like the sounds in sc2?
Another thread with whining? Just proves my point I made in the thread that Gifted closed. I am really disappointed with the attitude of fan. It's all about "me, me, me". Bashing Blizzard instead of giving constructive critique. You make a thread like this every week and always gets closed. There should be some form of infraction for repeat offenses.

Listen and compare.
They should put much much more effort in it...
One new thing (read: cause for some extra bitching) I noticed:
New units are not memorable somehow.. Zerg and protoss mechanic units don't make distinguishing sounds. For example: Hydralisk respiratory sounds are all the same practically.
This could be greatest game ever and they spoil it with bellow average sound/voices.
Yes. We need bitching as much as we can.
No you don't need to bitch. You need constructive criticism instead of always pointing out what's wrong and always calling Blizzard stupid for not catering to your wants, which is by the way your opinion not everyone else's.
Exactly!Quote:

SC1's speeches is much better,IMO.
Thoughts on Protoss, Blizzard needs to go back and add depth to the Protoss voices. Make them sound vicious and echo-y. That would satisfy me. Most notable on Zealot between 1 and 2.
I think the following units need to be more "deep and gritty":
Archon, High Templar, Dark Templar.
The rest of the Protoss units are great actually.
For Terran, there are these that need to be more diverse (accent-wise) or as someone mentioned "static-y":
Ghost, SCV, Tank.
The BC needs to be re-worked better.
For Zerg, they should be less "underground" and more curt and concise. The loooong grunts and hisses are kinda too similar to the overlord.
The best ones done for Zerg are the Muta, zergling, Queen and drone.
Hydras need to be more "airy" with their "throatiness"... Ultras need more of a Ty-rex sorta sound.
Finally, some constructive criticism instead of attacking Blizzard. If the problem are the sounds, then focus on that and not on Blizzard's ability. I like the sounds but it needs more dominance and they have to rework the the sound priorities so they don't keep on getting overridden.
For terran the only one I dont like is the BC (hope they redo the voicework on that one), the tank could use a little oomph.
For zerg, they just need to be louder and maybe a bit higher pitched.
For protoss, high templar for sure needs heavy editting.
Honestly though, they actually all sound closer to the actual character in SC2... they sound more fitting to what they look like. I liked the BW sounds better because its classic and what I firmly recognize and would love to continue hearing... but yea, SC2 sounds are actually quite solid for most things just different than BW.
EDIT:
Absolutely this. I like knowing units are completing or if I am under attack. Allow SOME overlap and make some sounds a much higher priority.Quote:

Do you have constructive critic on voices/sounds or are you just OK with it and complainers annoy you?
Too me, art (story, visuals and sounds) are most important part of the game.
I agree people should have manners when they complain about something, but if we are all just "compliments&glorification" - company will do nothing about anything...
When community is bitching, Blizzard make things better.
We wont hurt theirs feelings. They know how good they are.
Make suggestions on what you want improved. Point out exactly what you dont like. Give actual precise feedback instead of broad sweeping statements.
"Sound needs reworked" or "voices suck" does not help at all. Likewise, for balance, "x unit is overpowered, nerf it" or "buff race" help nothing. What needs buffed/nerfed? How is it too strong/weak? Any suggestions to fix it?
Making the feedback like this and it turns from bitching into... well actual feedback.
The origin of the quote you are referring to is probably from the fact that this is the 4th or 5th thread that Wankey has opened (almost on a weekly basis) that has stated basically "I don't like the sound", link a weekly example, and leave it at that. I think his first one was the only one that involved links and examples that involved feedback or constructive criticism.
I can see his point as the only reason this conversation hit a constructive angle was around the later end of page two and had nothing to do with the origin posts. (And thus, the only reason I"m not closing this thread yet as a duplicate of a duplicate of a duplicate of a duplicate)
Regarding the current discussion though, I'm still interested in seeing suggestions that could be improvements of specific points.
this is not just wankey.too many fan site , too many criticism thread ...but still requaaaaareee more minnnerals , everybody hate sc2 unit voice
I don't understand why Blizzard insists on this horrible sound.
very simple , just the sound settings
they back to old voice settings(starcraft2.com)
they did say there was reworked sounds coming out after the first phase ended. So we can see what they did with that. Honestly I don't want to hear sc1 sounds ported over. I do my best not to let nostalgia push me to want things like it was before.
I'll try not to jump on the Blizzard bashing bandwagon, but I want to bring up a few points.
1. Blizzard has seen many employees come and go over the years. Unfortunately, you may not have the same people that worked on SC1 and WC3 working on current titles.
2. Blizzard has been developing an MMO for a half decade. Units in an RTS very well may have affected dialogue.
3. We should reserve judgement until release. The campaign will bring us the whole package and I'm pretty darn sure a great deal of units and sounds have yet to be included in the SP and editor.
4. SC2 will have a different approach and style to it. Again, we should reserve judgement until release.
5. Wanky, you could lower your blood pressure by starting a few threads that are actually positive about the game. The past 7 or so threads you've posted (not including your sound complaint threads) have generally been downers. Try making a website blog and plug it in your sig if you want to make a good rant or two.
blizzard please return old voice settings.
watch it my friends.. music and sound effects are amazing

I also really don't like what Blizzard has done with the sound, but I'm also tired of these accusatory threads directed at Blizzard. Keep your criticism constructive, it's that simple. This had better be the last thread I see that's like this.
