Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
It's funny that it says "World" Cup, but Canada is not included. 'Guess we're only good to Hockey and our own Football league and Avatar.
Wish you good luck to the participants, though. Choose carefully, because you'll regret it through the championship.

Well the Canadian team was actualy trying to qualify (you have to qualify first for the world cup, only 32 spots and over 200 countries), but failed miserably :p
Guess there is not so much grass there in canada:D

I'm sorry but there's probably more grass here than in any of those other countries :p
We actually have some really good soccer players here. Why don't they perform better when it comes to the world cup? No idea. I'm assuming they're just not putting enough money in trying to get in.
-
Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
Yep, alot of it has to do with facilities and funding for the soccer/football programs in addition to the quality of the players for each nation. Throw in an active league(s) and also having the players play in other leagues overseas. This should be fun.

why should they put money in it when the sport aint popular enough in Canada?? football is all about business nowadays. which makes it that much worse than football 20-30 years go

Trust me. There is enough Grass here we don't need to care about a stupid sport like soccer. Why? Because were playing on grass.

Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
Canada is a predominately Winter sports country see: Hockey, skiing etc.
We "Owned the Podium" in Vancouver this past February thanks to over 5 years of focused athlete development and over 100M dollars spent. So if the powers at be have the vision and commit the resouces, perhaps one day Canada could qualify again. :)
Or at least give us a realistic chance LOL
cheers

Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
Soccer is the stupidest, more boring game in the world. Players can fake injuries and stall the game like pussies, and you're lucky to get a single goal in 2 hours. How its the worlds most popular sport is beyond me, its a laughing stock. I get more entertainment from watching the crowd fight than the actual game.
That said, I'm putting all my money on Ghana :D

Stupidest isn't a word.
/thread
Also I don't know a lot about soccer, but since I come from Canada I hope Canada wins! :D

Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
Hm, been watching the Mexicans and South Africans go at it, now for ze next match. All while waiting nervously for tomorrow when its the stars and stripes turn. Almost game time.

I think you're missing the point that Soccer is so stupid its stupidity can only be described by a word that doesn't exist because nothing else is so stupid.
And Canada hasn't even qualified for the World Cup in years.

Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
Soccer is like Golf. It boring as hell to watch on TV, IMO. But its kind of fun to play.
Yeah, I play golf. And badly. Still fun though.

Golf is immoral. So much land for greens that could be used for low-income housing.
I love my knack for making anything negative :D

So are subdivision neighborhoods, cities and industrial complexes. At least with golf, most of the trees, grass and ponds are spared.
EDIT: And most of the courses I play on are kind of in the middle of nowhere.

Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
I don't know how the other groups will go, but I can tell you what the Finals is going to come down to.....NORTH KOREA VS SOUTH KOREA!
That's right! I'm calling it right now! Against all odds, this is the finals we are going to get, ladies and gentlemen! It's going to be the most epic World Cup Finals EVER!
-
Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
I'm still baffled as to how North Korea managed to qualify for the world cup.
-
Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
I'm baffled how North Korea is allowed to compete in any sport anywhere.

Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
Goaaaaalll!!
Honestly, if the US beats England it will have been a successful tournament even if they lose all the rest.

Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
Damn looks like my "bet" on Cameroon won't be much help :/ They lost 1-0 to Japan... No way they're beating the netherlands and danemark now^^
Can't wait for Brazil-NorthKorea tonight!
Btw, where do you guys watch your games? Especially those who watch online?
TF1 (french tv, which I can stream), doesn't seem to be showing all of the games (how typically self-centered of the french, to only show the games from their pool ;) ).
Help me out :p
-
Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
They could beat Denmark, they were a disaster to me against Holland. I cant wait until Brazil and North Korea.

Try out: http://www.channelsurfing.net/ . For the record, I will have a table soon completed that will show all of the picks from ALL of the people who entered in the pool. I don't hear as much laughing about my pick of Uruguay now either. :P
-
Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
@Hammy: I watch most of my games in Justintv.tv
Yey we just killed france 2 days ago, and we are tied with Uruguay with 4 points.

Let's do this! We can beat Uruguay! We can beat the world!!! AAA lol

Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
Oh man France is a train wreck. Germany lost to Serbia! And the US got robbed of making history once more. Well at least Spain and Germany can hug each other to feel better.
-
Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
The USA was definitely robbed and ENG didn't even show up to their match. Terrible terrible play :(
-
Re: World Cup Soccer Pool:
I loved the USA vs Slovenia match , was very exciting:D. Would have been even bether if the USA and England both lost today:cool:
