The new thor kicks so much ass vs ground, you can't call it an AA tank.

Also consider less size = less room for scv repair
So its a nerf in that way :)
Love the new model, makes thor so much more easy to use.
A lot of stuff in sc dont really give the lore justice, but lets save that for singel player and consider a balanced game more important multiplayer than lore :)
I just want to adress the fact, that the footage from the Collateral Damage story IS old. Just look at the building add-ons. They're horizontal like tech labs, but look like reactors.
The idea of re-thinking the thor as a smaller unit and making the Odin as a special one, and maybe even using it in single player is really a good "compromise" now that I see it, but then they should just re-model it so it doesn't look as much like the original model. Just scaling it down is a too much of a cheap trick. Show some integrity. Remove or re-model.
Well, you know, scaling down the Thor is something that they are doing as a look-see. If they aren't one-hundred percent positive that the Thor will retain its current size, they won't remodel until later, hein?
I was being honest. The size reduction is a cheap way of balancing things, just as cheap as nerfing stats is. Thor is supossed to be a massive unit, lore and original design are the proof. Now, just as a loooooot of units, its just a shadow of its former glory. If they need to reduce it even more, then its clear that this unit just won't work in this "e-sport". I think its a shame.
So as you said, id better see it removed.

Look at the Top Left Upgrade on the Protoss Side. Its a tech Reactor.
God just stop it. You'll be such a terrible designer. Resizing things is the best way to quickly rebalance something. Stalkers were enlarged, Roaches are larger than Hydralisks. Things are always resized.
Heck SCVs were made smaller.
Resizing the thor actually makes it useful in the game. I've used it many times now.
I think it'd be too cheap to remove the Thor model. I mean how would you know when you're being attacked by Thors if you can't see it? Way too imba.Quote:

NO I don't see. Either your English is poor or you make bad arguments.
You sentence makes no sense. You say Thor reduction is useful, and then back it up by saying removing all explosions improves readability which is terrible. Explosions show you weapon impacts are are incredibly useful for readability.
So many feelings concerning the Thor...
To be honest, I think what people dig about the Thor (since it seems so out of place role/physics/concept-wise) is the Unit Portrait. (Dunno how many times I've yelled: "I'm Heavy Metal!" ;P)
I say re-think the Thor, but keep the UP!!!! ;P
I gotta say that as much as I hate the Thor being in multiplayer I love its portrait.
But yeah, I think it was a huge mistake to put the Thor and the Mothership in multiplayer. They should've been left to the campaigns so they could retain their awesomeness. Now they're just flat out ruined because of the balancing for multiplayer. All we have are a bastardized Goliath and a bastardized Arbiter.
Completely agree. If they want this game to turn into an E-Sport, they just can't go down some paths. That includes a powerful single unit (which the MS used to be), or a gargantuan powerful mecha (like the Thor used to be).
The way they want multiplayer to be, automatically eliminated some of the most awesome mechanics this game had (drop pods, cruiser multiple upgrades, original motheship, Infestor actually infesting things, and so on).
The final product will be goddam awesome. But it could be the best ever. Goddam awesome is ok :D .
The problem here was Blizzard's absolute refusal to touch the ST beyond stats changes, that basically forced them to either repeat the SC mech lineup (though they at least 'tried' to refresh it, but it didn't work out), or make the Thor the biggest unit. IMO the ST is and has always been the real sticking point, not the Thor.
Thor r teh pwn
I saw them for first time yesterday... They look worse smaller.
