Or any other unit that can attack air. You really think you deserve that win if you didn't prepare for the fact that he can lift off? If he killed off all your air capable units? Yeah, we should all nerf helicopters in real life because unarmed people who escape in them when they're surrounded by savages with knives are just pussies, right? We should make helicopters blow up if you throw a knife at it.

Reading comprehension FTW. THERE IS NO STALEMATE. If you'd read a little farther you'd see I said I would gladly accept a DRAW/STALEMATE under those conditions, but since there ISN'T one I still proclaim floating out of reach a pansy maneuver. It is the defiant act of a sore loser who's only joy now comes from being annoying. I agree it doesn't NEED changing because the idiotic people who do this will be hunted down 99.9% of the time, even if at the time of liftoff the dominant player has no way to attack the building.

And your helicopter analogy fails, unless they've recently invented magic helicopters that can stay in the air forever.

I agree with Sins on the issue of using the lift-off ability as a way of trying to drag a game out when the Terran player has clearly "lost" with the present win/loss system.

People need to know when they are done.

If a "draw" mechanic were put in place, then I would be fine with it.

I couldn't care less if you get annoyed from having to hunt down people who want to be annoying. My argument stems from the fact that if a Protoss does NOT have the capability to destroy any lifted buildings, then he has no right to complain.

My helicopter analogy is for the fact that if you can't kill someone and they can't kill you, then you have no right to whine just because you have an army and he doesn't. It has nothing to do with the fact that you like to bitch about Terrans dragging on a game, because I couldn't care less about that.

Did you design the mechanic or something? You're remarkably touchy about it. It really doesn't matter either way. Every time some cretin has done this to me the worst effect it's had is forcing me to make a spire and one muta. Bad kid Terran players can do this all they want, it doesn't make it any less a loss for them.

Nope, I didn't design it. But I am touchy about leaving it the way it is. I don't exactly feel like changing it just because some dude is annoyed that he has to chase down other buildings. I've won a game before by flying my buildings around while building 1 banshee to finish off my opponent. If it was draining gas, then tough luck, I would have been screwed.

Then why is everyone getting so uppity about nerfing flying buildings? Sheesh.

Why do these ideas all involve a draw "request". One should be able to check a little box in the allies tab to trigger a draw. The others wouldn't even be aware of that (so that it doesn't get annoying every games against idiots). This would work like what people call "allied end" in BW, and you'd only be able to check that box after a certain time into the game (to avoid abuse, I'm sure it's easy to find two players who hate mirror matches, whatever the reason).

I think the draw option should exist, but I suspect Blizzard hasn't implemented it because it might cause more confusion and/or abuse compared to the number of times it would be used for valid reasons (honestly, how often do you end up with some ground units and zero drones/minerals/hatcheries to hunt down a lone floating building? 1 in 100? 500? 1000?).
If this happens to you on a regular basis you can only blame yourself for not saving a drone or some minerals while you were exchanging bases.

You don't deserve the win though. The objective has always been to destroy all his buildings. If you can't do it, you haven't won. If you both can't do it, it is a draw.

In Chess, when a player knows he can not win, he can choose to play to a draw.



Everyone complaining needs to understand that draws can happen in a lot of different situations. Yes, Terran floating over uncrossable terrain is a common one. One of the great things about SC is that you don't have to engage if you don't want to. If the Terran has a barracks left on uncrossable terrain, and the Protoss has 200/200 Ground army, with no air or ability to produce it, the Protoss has NOT won. I don't care. The only way he can win is if the Terran purposefully loses, which is a retarded tactical decision.

If I am a Zerg player with a small ground army, and I am playing a Protoss player with only a shit load of static defenses, and the map is mined out... who has won? If I throw my army at his defenses, I'll lose it and neither player will be able to destroy the other.

Draws are part of the game and an offer draw option should be in the game. If you can't destroy his buildings, you have not won. Period. I don't care if he has a Pylon on an island and your army is 200/200. If you can't reach the island, you draw.
