over the top
the other day my mate gave me a go on his beta account and one thing i found very annoying was the over use of censoring.
for example as a joke i typed "black sheep wall" just being a dumb noob and blizzard in all its wisdom has decided that the colour black is offensive bit over the top dont u think.
anyone got a take on this?

Re: over the top
theres a way to turn off the language filter in options, in social. Just turn it off and name colors to your hearts content.

Re: over the top
The censor is completely out of control. Colors and words that are completely necessary for every day use like came, as in "They just came into my base and killed all my hydras!" are kind of over the line. Actual racial or sexual orientation slurs and the big 7 I understand. You shouldn't have to turn the censor off for normal speech.

Re: over the top
Yeah, it's kind of counter-productive. A person who wants to use the filter is going to have to turn it off because they won't be able to see wtf their ally is saying.

Re: over the top
Yeah, somebody said to me that he was just Reaper rushed, and i answered "that sucks!", and "sucks" was converted to "%$&#". Is that such a strong language as to need that kind of censorship?

Re: over the top
Blizzard has the option of being heavy handed with the censor or not doing it at all, either way people are going to bitch about it, I mean look at the 360, so many "concerned parents" are bitching and trying to get money out of microsoft that they are trying to develop a way to censor voice chat.
just be glad Blizzard gave you the option to turn off the filter.

Re: over the top
I must admit that it's really ridiculous. The name policy is also extremely strong. You can't name yourself God, Emperor or even Napoleon. Why? Well I can understand why naming yourself God could offend some people (even though that's still pretty lame) but Emperor? And why not Napoleon?

Re: over the top
I told my ally to "transform" his vikings but that was a no go.
If it's really true that you can't say "black" we're beyond puritanical, that's just bizarre!
