So I just lost 3 PvP games in a row to Void Rays. First game, I tried to rush myself, his rush was better. Second, I tried to counter with Stalkers, he simply focused on my Nexus and killed it outright. Third I tried harass before he could get them, but he held me off with Force Field and killed me that way. I KNOW its coming because its so strong, and I still can't stop it.
I need help. The only matchup I feel confident in is PvZ.
my only suggestion would be trying to match his void rays, or atleast 2-3 stalkers for each void ray
also if u know hes going void rays, i'de try to get stalkers and get blink researched
maybe even phoenix's....dunno....havent faced someone yet good enuf with void rays for me to consider changing strats
Stalkers should not lose against VRs. They build way faster and you can mass them from your warp gates, while the toss player has to squeeze a void ray out of his 1-2 stargates. If you micro at all, stalkers beat void rays cost for cost, especially in terms of gas. So try to scout it out, and if that doesn't work, you need to take a look at your build orders and macromanagement.
Some other tips I have is: try to get blink to help with micro if you can afford it, and get a forge for the +1 upgrade (which I found really helps against VRs when this was done to me), and so that you can plop a cannon by your nexus.
I'm trying to get more Stalkers, but I'm always outmacroed too. I think I'm just fundamentally unfit to play SC2 cause of my inability to expand well.

I eventually got Blink of course, but after he crushed my Nexus he was able to gain a significant resource advantage and finished me off with his own, larger Stalker army. It was pretty sad :(
I think if your Voidray rushing you just have to be faster :P if their going to always Voidray rush. I don't really play protoss all that much so no idea :/
Do you scout a lot? Do you know that the Vrays are coming from scouting info, or do you just assume it?
I'd just go Gateway -> Cyber -> start researching Warpgate tech -> 3 more Gateways -> crank out Stalker/Sentry -> Twilight Council -> Blink tech.
If you see it coming, I don't see how you could lose :S. Then again, I actually don't play Protoss, so it could just be that I don't get how powerful this thing is. :p
I have to automatically assume my opponent is going to proxy Zealot rush cheese or Void Ray rush. They are the most common builds I encounter. I have learned to stop the Zealot cheese with my own Zealots and a few Sentries, but it sets me back too far to counter a VR rush with my own VR's. I'm trying to find a way to balance handling both rushes and scout my opponent. Its just too hard when I'm a micro player.
Sounds like it's an inability to multitask, which should be considered separate from macro and micro :p.
Early game situations like that actually really favour the micro player because with such a low unit count, victory can really hinge on micro, and you'd both only be on one base, so there's not a whole lot to macro :p.
Depending on how fast the enemy Zealots come, you could try getting just one or two Zealots then get Stalkers. I see this all the time, and since you're a 'micro player', you should be really good at kiting those Zealots :p. And you'd already have the infrastructure in place to handle Vrays when they come.
well, i finally ran into a void ray rush that killed me :P
this was mainly because i could NOT find the guys base :P lol we were on metropolis, one of 4 positions, i missed on my first 2 spots to check, by the time i got to the third, i saw he was cannoned up, so i suspected something. was already getting immortals at this point.
than when i sent my observer in, i saw the first void ray was done, with double stargates........if i had found his base earlier, i woulda just 3 gated stalkers
