Why does everyone say its a day after their birthday and crap. I don't want to sound like a dick but, nobody here cares when your birthday is. I swear I see people on every news site saying the same thing. I don't know why but it just annoys the piss out of me.
It's a few days BEFORE my brithday. Make ya happy? ;)

Lol, maybe it's just we all want SC2 as birthday present.
But it's true that it's two days after my birthday :D
BTW anyone knows what the final game system requirements are?
I only recall this ones for the beta:

Re: RELEASE DATE: July 27th
If these lingering problems are holding some back, then don't buy the game. Leave it on the shelf and keep your money in your wallet. You will be in the minority.
This game might not be perfect and 100% balanced, but someone point me out a game, any game, that truly is. The only ones that I can think of are maybe chess and checkers. Pong too, maybe.
It took a bunch of patches, an entire expansion, and a few more patches to get Starcraft I up to snuff and I wouldn't consider it a perfect game either.
I feel that Starcraft II is a well-polished and worthy successor to the original Starcraft and Broodwar.
Blizz, release this bugger!

Re: RELEASE DATE: July 27th
Finally, it's about time! :D
Now I should pre-order the collector's edition...
Does anyone know a shop that sells it and offers international shipping?
-
Re: RELEASE DATE: July 27th
All I can say is... it's weird they know the release date, almost three months before beta ends.
I hope, if there's some problem, they'll delay it. February to July is a pretty reasonable beta length though, so I doubt there'll be a problem. But a fixed release date almost three months in the future takes away some of Blizzard's flexibility.
-
Re: RELEASE DATE: July 27th
I agree with you Kimera...
But Blizz must be very happy with were the beta is at right now to be announcing any kind of release date.
The next three months, I think, are going to be more about minor tweaking and far less about massive patches and changes.

Re: RELEASE DATE: July 27th
What's the difference between the collectors edition and the standard edition?

Standard gets you the basics: campaign, multiplayer, and map editor. The Collectors Edition gets you some juicy extras. They aren't required to play the game, but they are very juicy. It's stuff like special avatars, special models, a WoW Thor pet, and other stuff. Like I said, not needed in order to play the game, but still — very, very juicy.

This is what the collector's edition feature:
I'm really looking to get the Art Book, DVD, Soundtrack, the USB and the Battle.net Content as a plus. The other things are good but not really excited for them.

The Starcraft II preorder site includes some shopping places. Choose what you like best and more than one probably offers international shipping.

Causes me to wonder... what happens if they fix the problems extra-fast?

Re: RELEASE DATE: July 27th
I think Starcraft II might actually go truly mainstream.
Yahoo has the release date notice up as a newsflash...
http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/p...uly-27/1398084
I hope some even more legitimate news agencies than Yahoo post these kinds of SCII-related announcements.

It's really gonna be awesome if the game goes mainstream. Maybe E-Sport will finally grow here too?

I guess that's the dream...WoW has gone mainstream to the endth degree. It seems like everyone has an account. Can't really televise it though.
With SCII, I can almost see it being somewhat similar to the World Poker Tour...
It would be niche market for sure...but a market nonetheless.

Re: RELEASE DATE: July 27th
I for one am not too pleased about this, and I can't believe I'm saying that since I have been waiting for about half of my life for this game to come out. The Zerg are not ready. The Zerg are excruciatingly boring as a race, they have none of their original spark of pizazz, and certainly none of the game play polish that we see from the other two races. July isn't enough time to overhaul them.
I am actually hoping they'll delay the launch for another year. :(

Screw that. I'll be damned if the game is delayed yet again for the Zerg when their expansion is coming up next along with the obvious patches inbetween.

Are you nuts man? Another year = /wrists!
Can't wait to get my hands on it. Watching only replays just doesn't work for me anymore :\

Re: RELEASE DATE: July 27th
Who would've thought a release date announcement would've elicited so many complaints.
But seriously, the first StarCraft was just as problematic upon its release date and took years of play by millions of people to get right. For some reason people think that the beta would be enough to get the game perfectly balanced (apart from its creative and theoretical aspects game balance is a mathematical-alchemical process of finding the golden ratios between HP, DPS, armour, mana costs, cooldowns, unit velocities and other sundry factors, months are not enough).
In any case, I'm VERY excited about the campaign (despite that pesky Kerrigan recasting I hope they can still recapture the magic).

See, the inherent difference is that this isn't a questions of 10HP here and 20 seconds there, this is an issue of the units themselves, and their abilities. Those are not the kind of problems that SC1 had, and they certainly aren't the kind of issues that can be fixed by patches.
Keep in mind as well Dragoonx, that expansion set is at least a YEAR away. A year of these broken Zerg? How do you think the game's going to work with 1/3 of the races unplayable?
The other thing that bothers me is the voice acting. Almost universally terrible amongst the Protoss and Zerg, and a good handful of the Terran. THAT won't be fixed in a patch later.
I'm sorry man, we have waited way too long to receive something that isn't up to par.

Bad investing is what caused the +10$ hike in the first place!

Re: RELEASE DATE: July 27th
Just payed for the Collector's Edition at Blockbuster in Denmark, where they also have a betakey giveaway. Anyhoo. The danish Blockbuster site said it costed 599 DKK where they're selling it for 799, but when I pointed this out they sold it to me for 599! Got it the cheapest possible for now. Hope the price doesn't go alot under when it'll come out!
Hehe.
Btw, 599 DKK is 104 USD, and here CE sells between 699 and 899.

I don't really care for the Zerg. I just think it's silly people want the game to be perfect on release.

1) I am pretty sure the race is not "unplayable"
2) Voice acting is meh
3) If its sub par and not valuable on the set price point, don't buy it. Not sure what to say. Play the original since its obviously the better product.
@DemoSquid
Starcraft 2 is the same price as their previous RTS releases.

Blizzard seem to be rather unwilling to change the current unit rosters, or at least unwilling to do it hastily. However, considering that Blizzard did add new heroes thro'ugh patches in WarCraft III, I would not be surprised if they will profoundly modify the game through patches (and expansions definitely call to that in any case).
Besides, I would argue that just the singleplayer campaign alone is worth the wait.

Re: RELEASE DATE: July 27th
Not sure there's any way Chess and Checkers couldn't be imbalanced since the biggest differene is between the color of the things.
