Its not about perfection. Its about adequacy. And I don't feel SC2 is adequate. Especially the Zerg.

Not even adequate?... At this point, I think it at least meets the original in quality. And thats judging multiplayer. The singleplayer could FAR surpass the original.
If they held the game off for another month or two, I couldn't see them doing a whole lot to the point where it could change someones mind on how FUN the game is.
Again, I know its just your opinion, but I think the Zerg are fun, and I wasn't a zerg player in Broodwar. I do think the Zerg were purposely stripped down (no Lurker equivalent) somewhat because they will be expanded on later. At the core though, I think the queen's role is nice, the units have niches, and I love the Nydus network. Balance wise, there's only so much they can do with beta.
Thank God. I'll be out of summer school by then. I was afraid I'd have to chose between homework and StarCraft 2. We all know which would win.
How radical can patches be? I just wonder if they may decide, somewhere along the way, "Y'know what, we finally have the idea that will make the zerg perfect!" Would they be able to implement new units/structures/mechanics via patch?...
Also, assuming the beta ends no earlier than July 17th, the beta will have lasted five months. How can anyone consider this a short beta? Past Blizzard games had that much time and didn't even have the extra years that StarCraft 2 had.
Whelp, StarCraft's Facebook page has made it official. Rejoice.

5 months would make it the standard blizzard beta test length, plus SC2 was probably the most refined product blizzard ever had once testing started.
I think they just don't view them as problems Archer.Quote:
Its kind of sad cause there overlooking all the other things that they should be fixing while they still can.
it is now http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company...es.html?100503 :D
the looong w8 is soon over
The problem is that the level of changes you are expecting to see were never going to happen. If Blizzard intended on making changes on that level they would have done so before they put it into public beta. In the interviews they have been very clear on what was likely to change and what wasn't. So why do we continue to act surprised or disappointed when the changes fail to materialize?

Great success!
SC2 is far more than adequate in its current state :p. Unless by 'adequate', you mean 'as good as the original', which is perhaps too much of an ask.
As an RTS viewed on its own merits, it's already so much better than anything recent.
July 27.....wow, feels a little funny to actually get a date :p. And it's relatively soon, too! I can hardly wait to finally play that fat, juicy singleplayer! :D EPIC STORY CONTINUATION HERE WE COME!
Surprised? No. Ive accepted Blizzard has failed me.
Still allowed to be disappointed? Yes.
A few points.
- Shitty macro mechanics
- Too many returning Zerg units
- Uselessness of melee units
- The continued existence of the Thor and Roach
- Various lackluster models and voices
This is a triumph.
I'm making a note here: Vacation Day
It's hard to overstate my satisfaction
EDIT: they got rid of the splash screen, but it was there I assure you. Darn shouldve print screened.
It did look something like this page.
What was the splash screen?
Sounds good. I should have a decent computer by then.
Then I can let the hordes of people on bnet2 stomp on me :D
I wonder when the beta is gonna end . . . anyone thinkin' late May to early June?
I love starcraft =)
The waves sent by this event shall echo among the stars.
By the way, nobody guessed the right date :p
...the Zealot would like to meet with you and talk about how useless it is
it's not useless...just needs to be fixed Q_Q
Gonna pre-order the first place I find which will be offering midnight sales.
I actually don't mind if there's some issues that need tweaking upon release. Yes, I'd prefer a perfectly polished multiplayer on release date, but I've been waiting too damn long for this @#@!&%^ game!! Besides, SC1 had to live through quite a few patches before it became the game it is today, so SC2 just might have to as well.
Plus, I want to play the campaign very badly and that's good enough for me. They could release just the campaign and consider the multiplayer still in "beta" and I would still buy the game. But as to Demo's points, I do agree that the Zerg units need some work, and it seems highly unlikely that anything will drastically change from here until release.
Although, someone on the Dev team said in an interview recently that they doubted any units would be added or removed from now until release, but that it's possible, so maybe something will happen.
YAY!!! I can't wait to get it.
At long last...the guns will be silent no more. The flames of war will reignite and consume all in its path. Walk softly and carry a big gun children of Terra...for you fight the children of the Xel'Naga once more.
Does anyone have an idea about the price??
$59.99 for regular version of SC2 WoL
$99.99 for Collector's edition
USD & CAD (they're almost at par right now anyways)
I wanna get to play some campaign and 3v3, 4v4 already
So how long will beta go? I know I heard May 17th or whatever as shutdown date, but I thought that was basically a typeo or something along those lines. I hope beta at least goes into mid-June--even if they stop updates and what not, just let people play.
Honestly, there's no need for this beta to last any longer anyways because they are playing so safely with patches. It's not like they were removing/adding units each week.
Can't wait for this. EB games better have my CE on day 1!
I hope this is true. but since every thinks so i'll think so too!
Fuck... 3 days after my girlfriend's birthday... I wont have money by then...
Why does everyone say its a day after their birthday and crap. I don't want to sound like a dick but, nobody here cares when your birthday is. I swear I see people on every news site saying the same thing. I don't know why but it just annoys the piss out of me.
