Any new or lesser-skilled players interested in playing together?
I posted this on a different forum as well, so sorry for the copy+pasting
I just started playing the beta last night and I think I'm going to main Zerg. As far as actual gameplay goes, though, I'm still quite a noob; (re)learning all the intricacies of Starcraft is indeed a daunting task.
My buddy and I just finished our placement matches for 1v1 and 2v2. So far I'm in gold in 1v1, but I really think I just got lucky by getting players that were far worse than even me. In 2v2, I think my friend and I are in bronze. (Was in bronze, that is; the game keeps resetting my placement matches and makes me do them again.) I make a myriad of really dumb mistakes and I still don't know build orders or macro/micro techniques yet, so I'm still "working out the kinks."
So here's my proposal: are there any newer or lesser-skilled players that would like to play? The way I see this working out is a "mini-community" of upcoming SC2 players; we would learn the nuances of Starcraft 2 together--embarrassing nuke-loses and all. I'm sure this has been done before, but I'd like to try playing with some other people from time to time. I just want to play with some friendly people and have a rad time.
For now I'm really trying to learn some 2v2 strategies, so if anyone is down for some (possible) trial-and-error games or placement matches, just send a message or request. I don't know how much I'll be on considering I have finals and three research papers due this week (damn you, psychology major!), but hopefully we can get some good games in.
My in-game name on the US server is shookones.orderform

I show up as gold, but I lose most games in my league for 1v1.
As for 2v2...put it simply, my friends and I suck. I'm sure we could find a time to play. Add me: coolswampert.echs (edit: US server)

You playing on US or EU servers ? :=)
Re: Any new or lesser-skilled players interested in playing together?
Sins.wage is my SCII name.
I'm Bronze 35ish in 1v1 and haven't placed in 2v2 yet because I only play with a dedicated team mate, I'm not up for random matchups. Add me and I'll play with ya.
Re: Any new or lesser-skilled players interested in playing together?
Oh, I forgot to mention I'm playing on the US servers, my bad. I'll go ahead and change that in my post.
Added you guys!

I feel like I'm way over my head.
Sorry.

Swampert, that was one awful war of attrition, haha. Toward the end of that I just started messing around. When my auxiliary bases were getting destroyed I just let them because I couldn't/didn't want to move my units back to defend. So lame! That Zerg player sent me a message after the game saying, "trolled u nub" and then signed off, rofl.
Arkalis, sounds good. I'll add you when I get back from class.
By the way, if anyone uses Mumble, I have a server set up for all of us to use if anyone wants to hop on that. Granted, there is the built-in voice chat, but that's no fun, is it?

Yeah. They were playing sc1, when you could get away with walling yourself into your base with cannons. Doesn't work now. We won because we had the whole map and they only had their four bases.

Indeed. It was actually really cool to see Zerg cover the whole map. From the little I know of SC2, Zerg seem to be the race to control the map in team battles. Obviously, any race can establish map control quite well, although Zerg seem to be the easiest race to capitalize on map control and punishment. The "highway" of creep you had going on there was something I had wanted to do, then put off on account of your spreading of creep.
Also, I might be bad at the game and ignorant of many of its mechanics, but even I know not to build a fortress of static defenses.
