The first stradigy I will try.
After I get the game/beta key the first strategy I am going to experiment with is a dark templare fake out. VS T my plan is set up a proxy and attempt to force the CC into a PF. If I succeed in that I will attempt to keep the pressure on and tech switch to DTs. Warp in a few DT's but leave em on hold until the terrain has blown my proxy and starts to march on my base. When he is halfway between the two bases I will realese my DT's from their lease and go for a base kill.
I have not concocted a plan for Z or P yet. My basic idea is to try to fake out my opponent by making him believe I m going one strategy kind of noobish when I am actually going split strategy.
Any comments or advice? I am posting this as my hello SClegacy post.
Re: The first stradigy I will try.
Hey there :).
If you proxy, odds are, the Terran player will either fend it off with Barracks units alone, or will lose the game.
In order to get a Planetary Fortress, the Terran needs an Engineering Bay, and if you proxy, it's unlikely that he'll have an Engineering Bay at that point in the game.
Terrans almost always get an Orbital Command as soon as their first Barracks is done, so it's unlikely that you'll be able to force their starting CC to become a Planetary Fortress :[.
However, that doesn't mean that you can't surprise the Terran with DTs :). Hiding your Twilight Council and Dark Shrine in some obscure location of the map is still viable. You just have to hope that you can catch the Terran when his Orbital Command is out of Energy :p.
Re: The first stradigy I will try.
Be warned that the dark shrine has an absurdly long build time and is quite expensive (100 second build time and 250 gas i think)
Re: The first stradigy I will try.
Blizzard nerfed DT's into uselessness. They're what you use when you've already won just to insult your opponent. Or when you're suicidal and just playing for shits 'n giggles.

I totally disagree - there are many instances in which DT's are a strong contender in a mixed unit force. I suggest them less in 1v1's but in 2v2 they can be very effective.

ok, does chrono boosting work to warp in buildings faster?
Re: The first stradigy I will try.
no, chrono only works on production of units, not buildings

It is assumed all threads are made for 1v1 unless otherwise stated.
There's nothing wrong with throwing in a few DT later on to increase your force's DPS if you feel you can afford it. But rushing to DT's, especially against Terran, is downright silly. Its more viable vs Zerg and Protoss who usually have far less detection.
Re: The first stradigy I will try.
DTs are still pretty good in 1v1, honestly its barely different than it was before.
And opening DTs vs terran is very possible still, remember they only have so many scans and there mobile detection is far away in there tech tree.. scatter a few dts between your base and his and force him to waste scans then your pretty much safe to expo.
Not to say there isn't ways to crush this but DTs certainly weren't nerfed into uselessness.
Re: The first stradigy I will try.
alrighty, thanks for the info. I am going to need to try DTs out myself and try to create some valid build orders... Shoulld I post the ones I find?
Does a zerg 'bunker'(can not remember their name) have detection while walking around?
