So the computer is having trouble even loading in safe mode. Ugh.
Put the Operating System cd in, Restart the computer, hit F8 before it starts up, and there should be a Startup Repair option. Choose that.
From there, there's a check that should automatically attempt to detect problems, and if all else fails, there's the option to open a Command prompt, Switch to the C drive, by hitting- C:\ , and then try running SFC /scannow.
X
So I've stopped my computer from freezing when idle, but now its SO SLOW and its still freezing when I try to do system scans. I can't even play SC2Beta is keeps lagging then jumping. This shit is getting tiresome.

Other things to check:
- Run a disk check of the entire surface
- Let memtest86+ run, say, 10 passes.
Yeah, if you computer is having trouble in safe mode, its time to reformat.
Is your computer custom built or did you get it from a manufacturer like dell or HP?
If you got it from one of the big manufacturers, you might not need the OS reinstall CD. The big manufacturers put a "factory default" feature on certain desktops. If your PC is one of these there's a key you can press at the splash screen (its usually f11, but might be different for some) to activate it.
