Re: An important message from Dustin Browder
I dont quite agree with the corruptor evolving to brood lord, since the corruptor's current corruption is useful vs buildings especially stationary, upgrades/research & army production types the evolution can go back to the original one (muta).
And hopefully, I hope they have other plans to replace spawn infested terrans ><

So spawning infested terrans is the best they have seen yet... really?
I don't know; I'm starting to think that there might be some utility to them. Though it'd be nice if they were more durable. Mostly, the idea is to go for Infestors with ITs against Protoss early attacks. The ITs help deal with Immortals.
They're faster than Mutalisks.
Re: An important message from Dustin Browder
The thing that bugs me is that they're so slow, have so little health, have a really short timed life and yet they still have a warp-in timer essentially... is that really all that necessary?

I hope you mean they kill immortals faster than mutalisks... :p

I meant that they're faster to get out.
Mutalisks require, well, a Spire. And for some ridiculous reason, Blizzard thinks that the Spire needs to take 100 seconds to build. Whereas an Infestation Pit is only 50 seconds, and the Infestor themselves take 50 seconds. If you save some gas, just as the Pit opens up, you can build 2 or even 3 Infestors. Each comes with 50 gas. That means that, in the time it would take to just get a Spire, you get 2-3 Infestors who can go out and make 2 or more Infested Terrans immediately.

The philosophy of Starcraft is a little bit of everything. We have no core philosophy of "You can't do this" and "You must do that". Our fans certainly might see it like that sometimes.
I find it interesting that you would single out that quote. Not just because he contradicts his own statement elsewhere in the interview as others have pointed out, thus effectively undermining what you're trying to say. But that this is singled out over something like this:
Quote:
GameStar:
You mentioned the automation which brings us to our next topic. Why did you implement automining?
Dustin Browder:
We saw that as a basic thing to keep up with the rest of the industry. Physically moving a worker does not create an interesting choice for the player, because it's the same all the time. We are comfortable with that kind of automation. We want to focus the player on making interesting choices and not just a bunch of different klicks.
Emphasis (and signature) added.
Now granted, Blizzard has done a pretty poor job with some of the mechanics (Spawn Larva, for example). However, at least it is what they want. And the statement suggests that they aren't very good at evaluating what they have. It took them far too long to see that Proton Charge was a violation of this ethic, and even longer to see that the current version of Spawn Larva is the same.
Re: An important message from Dustin Browder
Of course Zerglings are even faster than all of that...
Though I suppose if you have an excess of vespene. But even then... ehh... I think the ability is fairly worth-while. (Mostly for when you can't cast one of the other two abilities. Against air or buildings.)
But in general the Infestors just too fragile for me to want to use it right now.

Right ... because that's all the Infestor does  Besides, they could be incredibly useful with some tweaking or already once we know how to use them.
