Ultimately, I feel that the Terran army is the more cost-effective of the two. However, if the Zerg has a substantially superior economy, he will still be able to defeat you even if his units are less cost-effective, just by virtue of him throwing too many at you.
Well i like Terran but the Hydras were may favourite unit in SC1 and now in SC2 they are just insane ! There Dps(cost-to-cost) and versatility are not matched by anyone,And the Roaches pretty much fit with hydras as much as the 3tripple M fir with each other,And Roach/Hydra/Infestor always is > M&M&M ,But if you add strategic placed siege tanks outcomes are not so obvious...So i guess PURE M&M&M cannot win againts a skilled zerg player, you have to either add siege tanks or ravens with seekers...

Hydralisks do very good damage in SC2, but that's where all their money goes :p. That 100 minerals, 50 gas, Lair tech, and 2 Supply all goes towards their damage capabilities. They only have a measly 10 more HP than their Brood War counterpart :p.
They're slow and frail, but do tons of damage, so be sure to target them first with your Siege Tanks ;).
If you have Medivacs, you'd already have a Factory, so Siege Tanks shouldn't be too difficult to acquire, and you only need a couple to make a difference in the midgame :].
Re: The Terran players thread
I just watched battle report 4 again because I remembered David kim using a lot of Thor in TvP. I have to go try this build now, we'll see if it works well.
Result: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N3LDU4RK
I need some advice. I did fairly well but I still lost which is completely ridiculous. I had 4 bases but I didn't saturate my minerals which greatly affected my income and I used emp in a fight only 1 or 2 times. The stupid DT got me at the end. Honestly, apart from the emp part (which David kim didn't use in his game) I don't see how I could have lost this. Anyways, I was really pissed after this game.
Re: The Terran players thread
Hey sandwich :].
You played some VERY solid Terran, and I loved your two-pronged attacks. I don't doubt that you're more than good enough to beat me :p. I can never spot those little red dots :(.
However, I have to say that at no point in the game did I really feel that you 'had' the game. You two were really quite neck-to-neck for the most part. When you took out his natural and nuked his main, it looked good, but you did lose your army in the process, so it was a while before you were able to follow up your success.
In the meantime, he rebuilt his natural and took a third. Given how Protoss can just Warp In units, it really wasn't long at all before his economy overtook yours and he was able to replace his army in short order.
From then on, he was just damn good at spotting those nukes and saving his workers, so the rest of your nukes were actually quite ineffectual, but through no fault of your own.
Your army composition seemed fine, but I agree that it was the DTs that clinched the game. They took out a big, slow-to-replace chunk of your army :[. Had you even a single Raven with you, I think that the outcome of this game might have been different :].
It was a GG though! :)
Re: The Terran players thread
Pretty impressive play SWB. Good expansion, harassment, attack, etc. I agree with Grunt in saying the DTs helped him get out of jail. I'd expect a rematch to go either way :)
Re: The Terran players thread
I havent helped much in this thread, Im a random player but I feel I know enough about terran to say a bit about the patch.
Build more rax! I know it sounds simple but I see alot of people forgetting marines build slower. Also dont be married to the idea of using reactors on your rax early game, sometimes I have 4 non added on reactor rax pumping marines before I add any rax reactor, if you make a reactor early game make sure its for a coming starport or factory. Gas is tight early game and you cant afford to make 2 reactors just for marines or afford the time that it takes to build the damn thing. If you stop to turn your rax into reactors and they attack your going to have alot of money built up that woulda been marines so make sure before you add on reactors that you have other rax producing marines already.
I'll post some terran replays of mine here(since no one checks my damn thread) if i play any good games with them today.
Right now im working on fine tuning the ghost/MnM opening into command center vs toss.
Re: The Terran players thread
I may just be me but I believe the TvP Proxy Barracks has been nerfed since the patch. Sadly...... But I find more of a tech up to thors and seige tanks helps, especially early <-> midgame. Thors for anti-air and protection from large enemies when moving and seige tanks for just well... sieging, just get them into position. You'll be safe from all but a mothership or a large mass of mutalisks.

That's too mineral and gas heavy, they are simply not made to be massed...It's good to have both siege tanks and thors but always with marines or marauders around them....

Thing is, especially now, you can get away with building only two or three Thor. Against Zerg a factory push right now is going to be very devastating...
What can stop it? Zerglings? Get eaten by hellions. Roaches? Get beaten by Thor/Tanks. Mutalisks? Thors eat them too. Hydralisks? Siege-mode tanks/hellions kill them pretty handily.
Zerg will pretty much need to use Infestors pretty cleverly or do some effective mutalisk harassment. And Siege-mode tanks counter those well enough anyway.
