Re: The Terran players thread
Reapers are a fun early unit. But I find myself leaving them behind after a one or two quick raids. I like spending the gas on Banshees, instead.
However, if your opponent isn't rushing much and trying to tech up, 10 to 12 reapers can cause some serious damage.
Had it happen to me.

Re: The Terran players thread
So a build I'm experimenting with these days is something like this:
10 rax
10 refinery
10 depot (I switch the depot and refinery if I'm going marauders instead of reapers.)
I get a tech-lab on my first barracks obviously (research concussive shells if I'm going Marauders), and then eventually I build a factory and a second barracks simultaneously. I get a reactor on the rax and a tech-lab on the fact.
I research stim pack and infernal pre-ignitor at this point. Then when they're done I switch the barracks reactor and factory tech-lab.
I start pumping out marauder/hellion like mad. If I see them going air, I can get marines on that first barracks. If I see them getting a lot of roaches I can start pumping tanks.
My next step in this plan involves me getting an armory and a starport. For Thors and Medvacs. Thors for AA and assaulting buildings, and medivacs for transporting the Thors and healing up my marauders.
What I'm wondering is, when should I build these things? And when should I expand?
I'm pretty terran-noob, so I was hoping to get some help with this.
Re: The Terran players thread
ridicolously awsome bunkerrush game: that actionreally just kept on going! thx for sharing!
Alduris:
It takes quite a while to research the stuff, and its sensitive since your probably not making so many units before switching the addons again. would yuo be holding scv production at any point? when would yuo be getting the OCC?
i like the idea of dual early labs for those important upgrades, but you will want to keep an eye on signs of early agression or fast air tech.
Re: The Terran players thread
Has anyone come across a replay where a Terran player does not group all of his buildings at a single base, but instead spreads his buildings all over the map. And not at just a couple of expos. I mean, a Starport here. A barracks way over there. A factory hidden in some thermal vents. Buildings everywhere and anywhere.
The Terrans are the most flexible race, when it comes to base building. Buildings can be built literally anywhere and some can lift off and fly to other areas. Why not use this ability offensively, and I don't mean just the odd cheese Barracks rush into a player's main. No, I mean total guerrilla warfare.
I know that you should never spread yourself to thin, but imagine the guessing game you could play with an enemy.
The real trick would be not defending anything. You would constantly have to be going after the other guy. The only thing you could and would need to protect would be your mineral lines and not a whole lot at that. Barracks, Starports and Factories would be dependent on the units they were producing for defense.
Re: The Terran players thread
I am really disheartened by Terran as of late I cannot play TvP and I have seen this over and over again on battle net. If I go Terran the opponent will go protoss and if I go protoss they will also go protoss. In the HDH all terran players were eliminated and in a recent competition a terran player had to switch to protoss when playing another protoss player to have a chance of winning. Maybe it will be fixed in some upcoming patches. The other match ups are ok just TvP is annoying me any suggestions?
Re: The Terran players thread
you will want to specify your complaints about the MU; what specificaly do you find too hard / unfair in TvP ?
i suspect its genraly a matter of protoss palyers sreally getting comfortable with their whole unit rooster, while many terrans are still hesitant to really mess around with some subtle things available to them; sure, Medivacs and ghosts and Ravens are frequently used, but to use meds as dropships at every worthwhile opportunity? to not just use EMP, but ghost and snipe? along wtih observer-denial? dombined EMP + Seeker missile? clever defensive /fortifying plays with eng-bay 'grades : dunkers, turrets raven-stuff ...
these are all plays with tremendous potential, but we're not seeing much of it! maybe due to the amped up speed (this is some micro intensive shit) but much of it might be in the terran players heads: once you get used to the notion that massing up and moving out is enough, you stop considering the options available to you.
... protoss (and zerg) are a bit more straightforward in this sense; there are tactical plays, but not as intricate and arguable not with as great a potential (forcefield tactics aside? :P)
