Re: Who wants to be a pro?
Pft, my average apm is only 130-140. But I still play on a regular basis, usually 2v2.
C- in iCCup though (in 2v2).
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
I've actually never checked my APM before. I downloaded BWCHarts and checked some of my recent replays. I've got an average of 100+ (usually around 120), with in-game peaks over 240, and some over 300.
I don't know, I'm proud of that considering how casually I've played the game. :)
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
I'm with Ed. I've never checked my APM, but I've always been a more casual player. But yes, I am getting back to Brood War to refresh my skills. As it is, I'll already have a head start with the beta, but I'm not so hardcore that I won't be passed up eventually when the game gets released. However, I have a few friends that do LAN parties once in a while who managed to nab a beta key or two, so we might be able to get some extra helpful matches when the beta is released. Helpful in that we'll be able to give each other strategic advice during/after the matches.
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
Again, I’m casual, but I’ve been watching a lot of competitive matches lately and I’m starting to work on my rusty SC skills. :P With each match my APM rises and because of that its hard to make an average but last I checked it is an average somewhere between 120-200. I can’t actually play or practice for long because of an eye condition. :(
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
Wow, you guys could all easily kick my arse. Even in my prime, I only floated to a mere 90. I think I only touched 100 once. :p
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
Ya I considered myself a decent player, rated C- on Iccup and my APm averages about 90
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
I have no idea what my apm was/is
I know ive gotten better but I'm still not too good

Maybe when SCII is out you can be promoted to a HERO haha
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
I'm picking up War3 again as training. Got #19 solo a few patches ago, let's see how it goes now.
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
WarCraft 3 really is quite the different beast compared to StarCraft. I would kinda suggest you do some training in StarCraft as well. :)

Very true. Warcraft beings to make me sleepy because of its slow pace. And I get angry at how long it takes for units to die... Still fun to play at times though, but it’s not for me competitive wise.

True but he could still work out his multi-tasking skills but that's about it.
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
WarCraft 3 requires essential RTS skill which are needed in SC2 as well. Sure it's a different game but to shape up your micro, spell usages, base control etc. It's still a good training.
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
My APM seems to be pretty low, only 70 w/ 169 peak. I manage to outmacro the guys that are at 120 though - weird. O_o
Might be because I play Protoss.
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
Never did know what my APM was, I did start playing Starcraft and BroodWar after the blizzcon '08. Both for derusting and catching up on lore.
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
My APM is OVER 9000 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so good, Jaedong, Bisu, Leta, Flash, Jangbi and Boxer allied together didn't beat me.
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
"The Quest for APM I: So You Want to be a Pro?"* :D
BWChart informs me that I have an average of 89 with a peak of 134. No championship for me anytime soon.
*With apologies to (the now defunct?) Sierra Entertainment.
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
tbh, 100 + or - 10 non spam APM is somewhat the average. D- to C guys usually have something around that. Of course it usually goes up if you're a T in lets say a TvP match because there's a lot more things to do(lay mines, siege/unsiege, scan, etc) than P who basically usually just mass at one point and wait for the right time to strike.
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
Well, Believe me apm doesn't matter a bit.
Of course you need some apm, but nnot 300-500 everygame :)

Yes it does. GL trying to pull off SK Terran genuinely without true 300-400 APM (true meaning not just spamming 2 keys back and forth all day).
Re: Who wants to be a pro?
My APM was never any higher than 120 and without practice the last few years it's at about 100 now. Having more APM is better, but takes a total backseat to good decision making.

But the two together= Gosu :D
