Re: Anyone feel that the Reaper should be a reactor unit?
Reapers should require time investment, teching theme needs to be proactive, not reactive. By making them a reactive unit where you can get 6+ in seconds for such a strong harass unit, you force the opponent to turtle in their mineral lines heavily, which makes for boring play. Its why they nerfed nydus worms, because it forced you to keep a large amount of defensive units and attention towards all your bases at any given time.

Re: Anyone feel that the Reaper should be a reactor unit?
the time investment makes sense to balance the early reaper use, but the thing is, the unit should have a place even later in the game, and atm, it kidna doesnt feel like it does, once you have medivacs you'll settle to harass with whatever units youve got rather than invest in more gas heavy reapers, even if you do have those 2+ techlab barracks.
i think y'all should try a bit harder to keep a relative mindset about this: OBVIOUSLY reapers coudlnt be allowed to be double-pumped without a nerf, so try to conceive of that situation instead of point & going OMG about the obviuos.

Um, am I to assume then, that the Ultralisk's headbutt building only attack is a spell as well?
Re: Anyone feel that the Reaper should be a reactor unit?
Reapers aren't being used as much as in the beginning of the beta.
However, that doesn't mean they're any less good.
What's going on is reapers are being reserved (unfortunately imo) to one of two of the maps that allow the easiest base-cliff access. If you use the reapers right on these maps you're guranteed to win if you don't make the necessary preparations.
-I personally feel that reapers devastate your chances of teching later on in the game, but it seems like a do or die strategy..
I have been totally obliterated from reapers in the last week. Yes, they're not being used as much, but they're very dangerous. Tier 1 units just can't deal with a reaper threat easily. Zealots will die, marines will die, etc, and if you have your terran army killed and even if you have a reactor there's no way you can come back they're die instantly when spawned.

I don't understand this part of your post... Where's the subject of this statement?
i deleted some words and forgot to add new ones
but i think reactors should have a late game upgrade to allow other units built through it

Pretty much, but the difference there is that the Ultralisk's headbutt was a building-only attack from the beginning, D-8s started off as an actual timed spell.
Re: Anyone feel that the Reaper should be a reactor unit?
I guess in a way the reaper being able to attack buildings with bombs only kinda makes them unique like the ultralisk's headbutt attack.

Ugh. No it isn't. It almost completely invalidates the Hellion as a harassment option, and it's ridiculous that a unit that has that much mobility can kill buildings that quickly and easily. Can you imagine if the Mutalisk could do that? Or the vulture? Sheesh.

Maximizing the amount of NONMOVING OBJECTS hit by your spell with a very CLEARLY DEFINED AREA POINTER does not scale with skill, unless the range of skill is between "mentally retarded" and "below average".

Being able to take the time out from other duties, like organising an attack, or minimising the damage your Reapers are taking does count. A pro who can target the area he wants in under half-a-second is obviously going to incur less damage from the defences than a rookie who takes more than a second to make the shot with the same precision.
