Considering that there are jet black with green Protoss in single player(Zakuldas), I am not surprised that this possible. I wonder if Blizzard will allow some level of customization to make each player "unique"
Wow! i really doubt that. That would be terrible.
And i guess when they made these changes, only themselves could see the difference. Not the opposing player?
It's a modification of local files, so you would still see whatever Blizzard released unless you have the modification.

Reskinning is as simple as changing the DDS files and recompiling the MPQ.
You can swap .m3 (model) files and the game will still run. The main menu is a .m3 file, and you can swap it out with a unit and it will display it when you start up the game instead of the menu.
