Honestly, I think the Advisor portrait suits the advisor. I was a little put off by it at first, given that the High Templar portrait was the one the advisor had in development... but now I definitely think it looks like an advisor. It's robed, it's got a hood... I mean I'm still pretty sure he's the 'master of the tribunal'.

Anyway, the High Templar doesn't strike me as mystical. It always struck me as a transcendent unit. It was all black, it spoke in a mysterious, other worldly voice. It floated. That to me all sounds more biblical than mystical. Which the gold and the floating, and the power all symbolize.
Though I admit the two portraits are pretty close as far as archetype goes.
