He's not saying that its the exact same model. He is saying that the in game model resembles the actual portrait a great deal.

Considering Aldaris is the leader of the protoss race, it makes sense his image is on the portrait. Done.
What they need to do is make High Templar look less generic.
Uh, i mean Artanis, damn you Aldrius for screwing up my memory!
It doesn't look like Artanis either. XP The colouring is all wrong.
No, I meant they look alike. The portrait and the model's face look almost identical. Not that they're the exact same collection of pixels. Just that, artistically, they're obviously supposed to be the same. I imagine the same is true for the zealot, dark templar, stalker, etc. etc.Quote:
I think what he meant was the basic shape is not interchangeable. For example, you couldn't use a marine's portrait with a reaper because you can clearly see that their helmets/face structures are not the same, just by looking at the model.
I see... But in that case, I think the current Protoss advisor's portrait looks close enough to the High Templar model. At least, in comparison to its actual portrait, the amount of deviation from the in-game model is comparable between the two. By that, I mean to say that if someone said the advisor's portrait was the High Templar's and the High Templar's the advisor's, I wouldn't have a difficult believing it. Indeed, the advisor's portrait has a greater air of mysticism to it (something, I'd associate more with High Templar).

You can even see it's shoulder pads in the first portrait. And it's the same colour of gold.
I don't see any reason to switch the two personally.
Aesthetics, personality, archetypes.
The same reason the new Dark Templar doesn't visually match its character.
It'd be like switching the Battlecruiser and Raven pilots around. Sure, either one could be in either ship, but the Russian captain with the hat and coat and all just seem to fit with the Battlecruiser. It's more dramatic and identifiable than a guy sitting at some monitors.
Also, I could be wrong, but I think that portrait was made before they made the High Templar model. I seem to recall seeing a much older High Templar model in action that looked really different.
Either way, again Aldrius, the current model isn't the question, it's the feel of the portrait in relation to the unit itself. The voice doesn't really match up either, but that's a wholly different issue.
What they ought to do is remodel the High Templar unit model to look like the Advisor, and then give it the portrait...
