I've been hearing about how ctrl+right click initiates an attack ground command instead of a move command. Can anyone confirm this?

Shouldn't that queue a move command?
that would be shift+rclick
no, it's ctrl + rightclick ;)
Shift + Rightclick queues commands.
SO, let's get this straight.
shift + right click: que up command and waypoints?
ctrl + right click: attack ground?
yes, there's a thread on TL whining about this cause its not like brood war, cry cry cry cry.
if its that big an issue to you, go post it on the beta forums so that Blizz actually gives it thought, but please dont start QQ'ing here because StarCraft 2 =/= SC: BW
sry if i sound like b!tch, TL just pisses me off with their "omg we soooo important, and we pray ronger dan you so our opinion more important"
thank god blizz doesnt think that xD
Yeah, it's shift to queue commands, i always forget while i'm not playing. Guess that my fingers have better memory than i :p
Why the complain? Who pressed Ctrl while moving his army, anyways?
they seemingly like to re-hotkey their groups or smething like that, it seems like a uber hardcore thing, and something casual players dont care for
That sounds like they re-grouped units while moving them. Once it's an habit it's difficult to change, and at that APM levels that's pretty much as automatic as the UI programmed into the game, only that humans are more difficult to re-program :p.
Yeah, I know about this. There is also thread on Gosugamers and they are bitching about this. They said that if you want to retreat, your units are not retreating, but attacking instead cause of CTRL.
I said that it would be logical to do the grouping in the middle of the fight in Broodwar and Warcraft 3, but here where you can select 255 units, it isn't logical to do the grouping while you retreat.
And then guys come and said that I am not probably that fast and good and that that is why I don't see a problem! ahahahahahaha! Imbeciles...
I would suggest them to put the finger out of the Ctrl key while moving. Nobody ever said that it was safe to do it, just didn't have any effect on the previous UI.
i have a APM over 9000
*clicks mouse furiously* SEE!!!!!
and this ladies and gentlemen is a brief summary of the overhyped-ism of APM and its importance. If you're a new player...dont worry about APM its nothing.
and yeah, if they have to re-learn how to click SC2 = bad game, BAAAD WHY ARENT YOU A BROOD WAR EXPANSION STARCRAFT 2!?!?!?
This is actually pretty great. Sometimes I get a bug in games where my hotkeys don't work AT ALL. (But for some reason ctrl and shift do? I don't know.)
This really saved me in a recent 2v2.
Shift + right click works in BW too, not sure about the ctrl + right though haha might wanna try it out later.
Why the TL-hate? Because you get banned for dumb posts like this?
On the other hand, I don't understand the purpose of such redundant commands. Why wouldn't someone a-click to attack move instead of a silly ctrl-click (which would reassign your groups in a crappy way if you're sending multiple control groups)?
It's like anyone who got used to using ctrl-click would just be screwing himself in the long run.
There are many reasons to hate TL. Among those reasons are that the value of your argument is dictated by your post count and how they actually have rules based on giving leniency to forum veterans even when they are being illogical asses and treat new posters as people who know little about Starcraft and do not know what they are talking about even if they have something good to say.
This. A guy I know is banned on TL cause he state that commentators done bad commentating on some SC VOD. I mean what kind of Bullshit is that? It is his opinion that Commentators were unprofessional there... Don't really know, but on every other site I go, all I read is that TL net is bad and hated...
That isn't the issue here at all, but sure that might be true in some cases, but in the end TL still has waaaay fewer retarded posts than most forums ( SC:L excluded, which is why I hang out here too). Unlike other sites that give the benefit of the doubt to newcomers, TL can afford to expect people to prove themselves. I'm not saying I agree, it's just a different approach.
Regarding the topic at hand: I think people just fail to realize that people complain about little details like this because 10 year old habits are very hard to lose, and this new ctrl-click functionality doesn't bring anything new at all. Noone who's actually trying to win should get used to using it, so why keep it in if it hinders even a minority (minority which will likely be some top competitors).
I'm not defending the comments themselves, but just saying that I'm one of those people who think that SC2 SHOULD be a competitive game, and MUST become the central e-sport for years to come.
And for that to happen, blizzard has to find a right balance between the "fun" factor for casual players, and competitive play. That's why a million stupid little things have to be adjusted for the sake of making SC2 as big as it should be.
No, what they're doing is applying the highest possible punishment to a new user and nothing at all to an old user / progamer in the same circunstance. That's favoritism, and it sucks. They should better apply a suspension to both of them. But of course, they fear that the progamer will simply leave.
Do they really have progamers there? I mean: people that regularily play for money, have sponsors, etc.
I can see ctrl+click being slightly faster than pressing and releasing a, then clicking, but as you said, there could be problems when using several groups, so it probably should be removed, because you cannot keep Ctrl pressed while sending several groups to attack, which is common.
