[Replays/Feedback] Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
Alright so Im going to post some fun/good replays starting from today! I'll try to only use new ones from the latest version, i'll hopefully be adding tons. To start things off i'll just add a old one though
Mirror Matches -
TvT-
Game 1~
TvT fun- This was my first game that felt like a real TvT - I end up going mass banshee vs thor marine tank, check how it goes! Pretty sloppy game by me overall(being my first late game tvt) and the other player was obviously a starcraft 1 player making over 100 workers threw-out the game lol Worth a watch I guess maybe not though ;d
ZvZ-
Game 1~
A weird ZvZ - A true roachfest, and even though I had 2-0 upgrades i still ended up losing _>_ this is a good example of the state of ZvZ atm - Roaches need changed.
Game 2~
A almost epic fail by me - I zvz where a epic fail almost cost me the game! See if you can spot it :d
PvP-
Game 1~
Standard Matchups -
ZvP-
Game 1~
First ZvP Late game! - Very cool game, first late macro game with zerg vs a protoss check it out!!
ZvT
Game 1~
A Morning ZvT - Pretty straightforward game, but this is usally how I play this matchup for those who are curious. Not the best game, since I had the clear advantage but, it shows how instead of just trying to kill a terran I usally just try to keep him from expanding on that map - and im trying to work on my map presence - I feel in this game having the towers helped alot.
Game 2~
Roach Rush Into Nydus Hydra - A open and shut game but it shows the new build im working on - really starting to feel like my early game is getting solid.
Game 3~
Mass Hellion nonsense - TeamEG destorys my confidence in the matchup with a wonderful hellion harass T_T
TvZ
Game 1~
TvP-

PvZ-

Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
Looking forward to seeing your games! I noticed that you've played a ton of games, and if you keep up the pace you're at, there's bound to be no shortage of entertaining matches! :)
EDIT: Meh, I wrote a more lengthy review, but because of lag or whatever, I lost it. D:
Anyway, that was an amazing game :). Your good games beat the crud out of mine :p. But then, you've played what - something like 300+ games? :p That's INSANE!
Like you said, that was a PROPER TvT! It just 'felt' very Terran with all the static defence, Siege Tank emplacements creating hardpoints on the map, and plenty of infantry on the ground. I think every unit saw action except for Reapers, Medivacs, Hellions, and Ravens :p.
I think your opponent had better APM, but you played very smartly. In particular, you used Banshees the way I always imagined them being used but haven't quite seen until now - in force and to do surgical strikes. Also, you were very opportunistic with them, catching tanks out of position and whatnot, which was cool to see :).
Your macro is very impressive, by the way! Sure you slipped up towards the lategame, but that happens to everyone, so I don't count it :p.
Offhand, I'd say that this isn't just one of the best TvTs I've seen, but one of the most entertaining of all :).
Given the amount of games you go through per day, I'm sure you'll have many more exciting games to share with us ^_^.
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!

i had a look at these ZvZ games first...
at first i thought you were both fools not to get any mutas sooner, but when you did, and had harass so effectively negated by some hydra, i realized they probably arnt as awsomely dominant as i first thought..
as you say and show, Roaches are dominant in the MU, but mutas or not, hydras seem like a worthwhile support unit, especially around chokes - so long as they have roaches in front of them they are about as damage effective as the roach, and have longer range, could be even better with concentrated focus-fire?
. i would also love to see fungal growth and banelings as support for roaches against raw roaches; you did seem to have extra gas, and when mutas arnt working so great anyway... wait, hers a though, what about Muta/ling/bane - banes should be horribly effective on the light hydras once they get in close., and they cant afford to run around dodging banelings if there are mutas up above shooting.
finally, i refuse to believe speedlings are all worthless vs roach, esp not if they are already engaged in roach vs roach combat; let your roaches tank for our lings and have those swarm/surround ... when roach upgrades kick in it should be less worthwhile but 'till then, lings are cheap!
even if it fails, i'd love to see some of this shit. ZvZ has potential evne if roach seems strong right now.

nice game. this guy needed some immortals & colossi! psi storm is nice but its not all tha tit used to be, and roaches are tough & regenerate insanely fast while burrowed. you should be qite capable to flank / spread out in a way to minimize psitorm effects, and to do that midbattle with daamged roaches is great too.
i forsee a roach nerf, 75/25 doesnt seem much for this unit. i want to see more ling/bane for sure!
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
Yeah ZvZ is insane right now, really I have tried to do other things - and had some success but I dont feel like IT would work vs good players :) Will post if anything changes.
In other news check out my newest replay!
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
Finnaly got promoted to platinum league after pretty much only facing platinum players for awhile :) Rank 20 atm
I have some interesting insight into how the rankings work I think, I was rank 2 in silver for a long time and it seemed that if I faced someone in silver league I would win sooo easily but! then I kept facing people that were really good and in platinum and gold league. So alot of my losses came from those guys while the guy in rank 1 could of been having closer games with the silver people and therefore being matched with more silver people than I was and therefore not getting those platinum people who perhaps he just played during a time of the day when matchmaking works better ;d Either way im happy to be in the platinum league. But im sad to report that my bnet2.0 seems to have a few bugs - I've lost 3 games in a row because it just sat there on "player found" and never brought up the game screen forcing me to log off and take a free loss -...-
Also im somwhat happy to report, after watching lots of replays I seem to be on the same level of understanding as alot of the rank 1 people - my macro and mechanics just need to catch up - alot of builds im seeing top players use baffle me and it makes me happy to think I can say "artosis what the hell are you doing" and actually be right :D
I should have some interesting losses coming soon - I actually have a few replays from the likes of (teameg) and such but there using very unique builds and I respect there creativity, so for now beta or not they'll remain not on the list ;d
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
soudns awsome. but i question anyones desition to keep anything about their beta experience quiet; that is playing the game for their own pride / gain rather than being an all out dedicaed beta tester for the good of the game - to help polish the final product as quickly & effectively as possible. it doesnt matter "who anyone is" the justifiable priorities of beta testers are the same for all.
looking forward to your replays.
peace.
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
I do agree with that, as such I wont be not posting anything for silly reasons - Mostly I didn't feel like posting strats until I thought they were sound - so far looks to be that way.
Anyway 1 more rep up! TeamEG destroys me with hellions!
Tommorw I will be massing games with zerg until I climb back up to top 25 Plat. So im sure some interesting ones will come up
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
Immortal Rush replays and I will be adding some phoenix build replays as well
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
saw that last one, at high speed but still. i wond if some crawler along wtih lings would ahve held that off any better; he clearly did wrong in keeping up roach production even as he saw how immortal heavy you were. ling/ling probably beats it, at least on creep.
roaches are srsly nice to have vs zealots though, so you'll typically see em in ZvP ... i expect you'd be quite successful with it. i just might try it if i play protoss soon.
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
Well after our testing we could only hold that attack off with lots of speedlings, so basically once you see one gate tech you need to just go ling for awhile.
Spine-crawlers are pretty much useless vs immortals, better to have the extra lings imo!
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
watched the hydra game too, two things: first, you need to let go of using roaches if you spot many immortals; dont build more and those you have, keep in a position you can retreat them if the get focused (or burrow them) second, gotta use the workers in fending off such an all-in attack.
i would love to try ling/baneling vs this, or at least see it tried.. possibly ling/ling into fast hydras. banes should be able to easily soften up the zealots so that zergligns (and workers if needed!) can mop em up quick, leaving only the immortals to be swarmed n killed
see, zealots actually have 2 tier1 counters for zerg: banes to kill the clusters, and roach to soak the damage. but if roach get countered as hard as by immortals, they are far from worth it in that situation, and yeah ou are right, the same goes for crawlers (but atleast those have the range and the high damage once something punches through those immortal shields)
a big part of the player base right now seems obsessed by the roach as a straightforward counter, so this strat makes sense as a way to punish that. GL on the ladder with it.
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
Well this was a series of like 10 games or so, each of them doing the standard roach opening, and trying to "survive" the roach build. With all the things we tried it comes up that its still best to open roaches, however if you see a 1 gate tech dont make use of your roach building ( or on smaller maps scout early to see if its a 2 gate or not) and just make speedlings and expand. It seems that if you do ANYTHING else than speedlings this build wins.
These replays are hopefully showing a well macroed and executed (At least I think so) Immortal rush vs zerg. One thing I noticed doing the build is, if you can scout the early speedlings you can pull back and take your expo - speedlings are great at stopping the rush but not so great at attacking the protoss base. So I think that with some tweaking in scouting times and such a immortal rush build may become standard opening vs zerg for me. It shuts down roach rushes and some roach openings (specially fast expo w/ roaches) and transitions well into the mid game with a secured expand(without the need of cannons) and a robo bay for observers.
My protoss play is still its infant phase ATM, so I hopefully will have some more build replays soon.
Since you seem to be the ONLY one watching ATM are you interested in 2v2 replays at all? Me and my freind are current rank 3 plat and im sure I could toss some replays out. 2v2 Dose have interesting games, but most of the tactics come with army movement and communication.
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
i havnt played a single teamgame yet, no interested in that atm, personally.
im curious if you tried early zergling harassment, i havnt done ti much yet, but it seems quite capable, at least with the early speed.
Re: Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
So I played some games with Grrface today, hes currently rank1 in one of the platinum divisions so mad props to him! We both are kinda tired of the random 7 pools and cheese builds that happen on ladder so it was nice to play 4 normal games with someone - I am posting these reaplys mostly to just show "my hand" in PvZ since there is some trouble on the forums with this matchup. So check out my differnt builds :D I liked the last game the best but you should watch them in order if possible as I make adjustments etc. ANd as always its not my best play but still a good watch. And then I posted yet another standard immortal rush game to see how to stop this "roach" nonsense people are complain about!
Re: [Replays/Feedback] Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
Watch me play ZvT -- vs my friend~ T_T not a good night for me but check out the "epic ZvT" for some coolness

First time I've seen Phoenix be useful. Good HT use as well, though you let him pick them off @ the end.
Also, lol @ "damn you ramp!"

Well the Neural Parasite was quite ineffectual. Did you focus down his Infestor's because you saw the neural parasite or did you just a-move?
Re: [Replays/Feedback] Offical Islandsnake Replay thread!
I focused down the infestor the second I saw it haha
And thanks for your comments, Im really enjoying playing toss lately ;d
