Did your hype increase or decrease ?
After so many months of waiting we have finaly received beta, so i'm wondering if you are still so hyped about the game as you were before?
For me personaly it's kinda strange, the last week i was super crazy estatic , and i don't remember ever being so pumped up for a video game in my life.
But now that it's finaly here , and things have calmed down i'm kinda felling i'm starting to lose interest, which is strange. I thought personaly that when the beta started everything will be much bether, and everybody will be even more estatic than before. I don't know it's hard to say , i think that deep inside i kinda miss just waiting for the beta , it was actualy a fun thing for me. But now that it is here, i don't have anything to wait for anymore. And since i don't have a beta key, and don't play the game, i don't have anything to contribute in all the new threads here. So i kinda feel empty at the moment. Maybe it will pass in time.
Re: Did your hype increase or decrease ?
These are actually the exact feelings I've been having over the last week. It's odd, cause before the beta came out, I was crazy excited, and now, the only thing that really pumps me up is the music of the game (particularly the SC2 Main Theme).
I think part of it is that I don't have a beta key either, thought I really do want one; I don't just say this, but I feel I could be a 10x better tester than some of the people they have testing right now, or at least that's my observation from some of the feedback I've read on the beta forums and watching some replays.
As long as I don't have a beta key, I actually feel inclined to stay away from the game. and as well, from watching the beta process, as when the game comes out, I'll be hyped up again, and the game will (hopefully) be balanced and life is good.
These are just some of my thoughts on the subject, but yea, overall, my hype has decreased, at least for now.
Re: Did your hype increase or decrease ?
I'm not in the beta yet either. I want to be able to contribute to the strategy forum, the trouble is that I can only theorycraft while the people in the games know the facts. I don't even know the unit stats or tech trees :(
I can't say whether I'm more or less hyped than before.
I can say I check my email and bnet account much more often than I used to. I've got my WoW playing friends digging for unused beta keys too.
Re: Did your hype increase or decrease ?
Decrease, although that may be due in part to external factors.
Since the beta, my visits to SCL have also decreased. I can't contribute to any SC2 discussions, and I am too dense to keep track of all the units and tactics without having first-hand experience.
Re: Did your hype increase or decrease ?
Decreased. All secrets have been revealed related to gameplay and audio. I'm not participating, yet can have all the exposure I want via direct feeds or screenshots.
So far a few people have offered me a key, but nothing has yet to manifest. So I'm kinda meh about the game at the moment.
Re: Did your hype increase or decrease ?
My hype has decreased after the release of Beta. I think the main reason this has happened to me and a lot of other people is that the mysticism of the game is wearing off now that we are getting our hands on it.
It is no longer that game we have all been looking forward to for many years, that is just out of our reach. It's becoming more familiar and known to us. Reality has hit home for us about the gameplay etc of the game.
Re: Did your hype increase or decrease ?
The hype is indeed meh right now.
Re: Did your hype increase or decrease ?
I'll confess that my hype has dropped :p. But then I also played the WarCraft 3 beta and this was the exact same feeling I had then. I knew that playing a beta means that you'll get that feeling like you've opened your Christmas presents before Christmas, but I just had to.
I just had to :).
I don't regret it though, because it's still exciting times! Already, I feel that the Reaper rush is becoming a less viable strategy as people are becoming more familiar with the capabilities of that build. New builds will pop up and the metagame has yet to settle. The Infestor is definitely going to be reworked because he's so cruddy right now, and the Lurker is MIA (temporarily, I reckon).
The beta is incredibly polished, but there are still a lot of changes to be made and a lot more layers to peel off before we can really see what SC2 is made of.
Oh, and let's not forget, there is an EPIC singleplayer campaign waiting for us. As much as I want SC2 to succeed competitively, I'm also quite a fan of the universe's lore, and am just itching to find out what happens in the story! :p
Re: Did your hype increase or decrease ?
Back in June I was really excited about the game. Now, I'm getting back into it a bit. A key would be great, considering I don't really have anything else to play and the original SC was the first game I ever had (family only had a Mac computer, so go figure) :P
But yeah, I'll definitely be purchasing this game as soon as it comes out, which I hope is during the summer because then I'll actually have some free time.
Re: Did your hype increase or decrease ?
This game is freaking amazing, my hype is the same.
Im also really enjoying streaming games
