That makes sense.
So do you think changed (e.g. longer range) Lurkers could be viable and balanced in SC2, or should Blizz add some other unit to bolster Zerg Tier 2?

Lurkers could be upgraded to have 9 range ! Much more then the Marauder and Thor,It dealt 30 vs armored + linear splash.Had 200 hp....It's not like BW when you have detection you are home free...With siege range+more durability made the Lurker a formidable tool in your army...I don't know why Blizzard thought they were 'ignored' I mean i don't see carriers and BC's in every game does that mean that they are useless? maybe they should be removed to ??? It's simply because people didn't knew the potential of the Lurker...Maybe they will bring down the Hydras to Tier 1.5 and bring the Lurker as Tier 2 by the next patch or two ?,who knows...
Blizzard said they were being "underused." I take that to mean that by the time Lurkers became available, people found other units to be more useful.
I'm curious to see whether they took out the Lurker because they thought it had no place in the game, or because they wanted to make some significant changes to the unit, test it internally, and see how testers played without it before reintroducing it.
Quite frankly Ultralisks are just better at tier 3, the Lurker's only advantage is it's burrow while attacking thing, which isn't all that great at tier 3... but I kinda doubt the Lurker will be out of the game for long. It's avatar is one of the in-game icons you can choose from!
Ugh... don't remind me. I sorta like the armored bonus, though. (And I *HATE* Zerg units with attack bonuses). Separates it from the baneling which everyone seems to think it overlaps with like crazy.Quote:

But then it might overlap with the Zergling too much of all things...
Yeah, and those don't have the same purpose... Even though I really like the Lurker(it is my favorite SC1 unit), I still think that they were not that useful for Tier 3, as you said Burrow is the only thing it was good for, with his splash and it is not that useful in Tier 3... But both Ultralisk and Brood Lord seemed better than Lurker in job what they did.Quote:

Would allowing the Lurker to move while burrowed make it a more viable unit? Would that make it too strong?
It would make it not a Lurker. It would simply make it a cloaked Zerg unit with linear AoE attacks.Quote:

Exactly. The burrow-move Roach is ridiculous enough already.Quote:

The tier 2 anti-armored Lurker would be perfect IMO.
Be a good counter for Roaches in ZvZ too. Especially since no zerg player has even heard the word 'overseer' before.
Not without the range upgrade.Quote:

I have.Quote:
