Post your Rig and Performance
Since the Beta's out now, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get an idea of what hardware people have, and how SC2 runs with it.
Specs:
- Intel i5-750 Core Lyndfield 2.66GHz.
- 4GB Corsair DDR3-1333 Ram
- GeForce GTS 250
Utterly destroys SC2 at 1920x1200. Maxed out graphical settings, and still runs smooth. I didn't even hear my GPU fan kick into high gear the way it does when I'm starting to push it. Oh, and I've been playing Zerg, so I've had quite a few units on the field. Still crushes it.
I'm kinda surprised that SC2 doesn't offer a way to crank up the anti-aliasing. OK, I'm not that surprised; AA plays absolute hell with the kind of deferred rendering that SC2 does.
Re: Post your Rig and Performance
My graphics card sucks (been holding out 3 years to upgrade , no thanks to blizz :p) but I can say that turning the overall performance low but textures up gives impressive results.
Re: Post your Rig and Performance
Phenom II X4 940 3.1ghz
Radeon 5770
2gb kingston hyperX
My machine also blows SC2 out of the water, at 1920x1080, with everything maxified. It never even came close to hiccuping.
Re: Post your Rig and Performance
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 Ghz
3 Gb DDR2 RAM
Nvidia 8600m gt (laptop version)
Runs very smooth at medium settings (reflections off, post-processing low) at 1440x900. I could probably crank it up more; I'll try that later today or tomorrow.
Re: Post your Rig and Performance
i think its clearly obvious that for the opt-in, this time they only went for high end machines, no one with low settings got in.
Re: Post your Rig and Performance
While I don't have Beta, I have to mention the following;
StarCraft 2 graphics at the moment don't even look more advanced than Command & Conquer 3.
Also C&C 3 has a lot of atmospheric effects that SC doesn't have, and that game is from 2007.
I can max out that game with clean FPS at 1650x1050 with the following;
Core 2 Duo - 3 GHz(E6850)
2 or 4 GB RAM (I upgraded since then)
8800 GT or 9800 GTX+ (I upgraded since then)
So I'd be shocked if I couldn't max out SC2 with its current graphical state.
*Edit* Also applies in comparison with Red Alert 3 btw
Re: Post your Rig and Performance
core 2 duo 6600 2.4
3gb ram
geforce 9800 gtx
run fine at 1600x1000 with everything maxed
Re: Post your Rig and Performance
Intel i7-920
6GB Ram DDR3
GeForce 260 Core 216
Runs at 1680 by 1050 without a problem. Able to record video without a problem.

those two games are pretty much alike in terms of graphics
I'd like to see the game in Dawn of War II graphics, alot of gamers would complain that the game won't even start at high
Re: Post your Rig and Performance
To be honest - SC2 was dated when it was revealed.
A 260 or 5770 and an Intel or AMD class equivalent to like a 2.5GHZ or so can blow the game out of the water.
