I was betrayed
I had a dream of a dream, now that dream is taken from me.
I feel like Derek Zoolander when he lost the male model of the year award
<- is a sad panda...
Like a guy who paid $100 (plus expenses) to play an unfinished game that he still will have to pay $50 for in a few months; and I'm totally fine with that.
I'm just a hopeful opt-in. I've never, ever won any kind of contest that I entered. Ever.
So it's no surprise that I didn't get in on the first wave.
I'm used to the rejection.
i feel for all of you, i didnt get an invite either :|
The worst thing is if you miraculously get into beta via second wave next month, you'll get owned pretty bad because those lucky you know whos will have been playing the game for a month by then.
My best bet will be its release, I've waited 8+ years I could still wait a couple of months. Patience is my refuge yet again.
Don't put stock in any of this speculation. No one except Blizzard knows the invite progression. It could be a few thousand a day, five thousand a week or ten thousand a month. They haven't said, and anyone who says otherwise at this point is speculating.
If you are going by the *SPECULATION* data we have so far they are slowly trickling people on. First they stealth added opt ins and the press. After that people started getting keys on a slow drip across the entire night. This is a very smart strategy, it keeps stress on the download minimal and allows earlier players to rank and newer players to be matched with people of their skill level./*SPECULATION
Bottom line there's nothing to do but be patient.
Well seeing that none of us here is from Blizzard, so the only thing we can do is speculate, which takes the stress of unending wait, and makes it easier to be patient.
Here's a fact though, no matter how patient you are, it doesn't change the fact that some people were just luckier than us and now getting orgasmic moments in beta.
I guess I'm just not as invested as some of you are. I love Starcraft and still lan party every week after 12 years, but this is some high drama befitting the immortal bard himself.
The internet really has spoiled us.
Considering what Blizzard wants to do, i expect A LOT of people in the beta. At the moment they popped in a small amount of opt-ins, otherwise they got the press in. Followed by getting the Blizzcon winners now slowly trickling in. Now what does that say? If correct you get thhe invites to the blizzcon'ers and then you start tramping in opt-ins a lot.
Wave's? I think 1 wave = 1 week, and i wont be surprised if they have 1 every week or so. Remember they want A LOT of data and to stress the servers as much and ASAP. This isn't WoW where you;re just checking the game is working, hell balance isnt even an issue in it. SC2 needs balance AND Server test something WoW has no need for in beta's since a) server's wont break and b) balance can never truly be tweaked until released.
just my thoughts, until further noticekeep checking that emal/bnet =P
Normally I dont get up that easily in the morning... But today my mobile phone brought me that email i've been waiting for so long!!!
I even got to play a game just before I had to go to work, luckily this was a short day, get to play for a long time now ^^ See you on battle.net :D
Yeah, I entered the contests that I could enter, but I've got nothin' but opt-in.
Dude - MillenniumDH,
You've made 23 posts in the last day and every single one of them is whining.
Just chill, not everyone gets into beta right off the bat. They'll keep inviting people up until the game is released. You'll have plenty more shots at it, and sooner rather than later.
And even on the chance that you don't get in, you've still got the full game to look forward to.
i was betrayed big time. followed the game 1 year before it was announced in speculation threads and even have wwi08 key and still got screwd over.
I guess the only real disappointment I'll have is if the game is severely delayed. If they make it for Q3 like they planned I'll be very happy. I'd be lying if said I didn't want to be in beta, but I was in no way expecting it, nor am I depressed about it. Beta starting is it's own kind of reward.
I WILL agree with you, Millennium, about the teasing part though. I'm very tired of developers talking about games for years before they're released. I guess it's important for business to ramp up peoples excitement and get a product into their consciousness, but I think in a lot of cases it has an adverse effect by getting expectations too high. This won't happen with Starcraft, or any blizzard game most likely, but it's always a danger.
Q3? Nononono...
Q2 buddy - June 2010. Keep up the hopes!
I don't know, we've seen some pretty crappy players playing during this first wave who didn't even know what half of the units are or how to build them. Many of us know this game inside and out like our own backyards, so will have a slight advantage in knowledge if accepted into future waves.
I'm here. On this forum. Instead of on Battle.net. 'Nuff said.
Unfortunately, not before the might and fury of the one and only - UNNERFED - David Kim.
I watched him earlier steam-roll a pretty decent player (C-level on ICCUP) with a shitload of banelings (like 40 of them), and this guy had a full contingent of a Protoss force. And, in the game before that, he was quadruple nuked in 4 places while he was fighting off David Kim's main army.
This was in the gold league though; I dunno about us - knowledge included, we could be in for a big surprise! :P
I opted-in and own 3 Blizzard games, and I have > minimum requirements except for my processor which is an AMD 64x2 4400+ 2.3GHz. Damn, I wish I had a beta invite right now - I have a feeling I could be quite creative in strats ;)
Whining helps me cope with the facts, just see it as a form of relaxation.
It's not just one single beta I'm whining about, THE WHOLE LIFE! (and being always in the unlucky's side.)
Some lucky guys will always be way ahead of you while the only thing you can do is saying things like ''ok maybe next time.'' then next time comes and again nothing, then ''better luck in future'' etc etc, which comes to ''maybe I'll just get the release 6 goddamn months later''. See what I did there? The worst thing becomes your best hope, which is sad.
This isn't fair. I don't want to make myself solaced by waiting for months for a full release while people will probably have been playing it for a real long time.
ps. Blizzard never said everyone who opts in will eventually get into beta either. And what good will it be if you manage to get into beta in its last week? It would feel like a some kind of bad, putrid joke.
lol
SOrry dude, but when u put it that way; it's kinda sad. The skill level you're aiming for is prolly not attainable, but it's good to have the aspiration; just don't let it buttkick you in the face and get you all depressed.
We're all in the same boat; we will have the game soon!
Beta or not.
Again see my updated post there. I'm not going to cheer up and dance out of joy because some lucky guys can get into beta even now, while I have to wait months for the game release now, am I?
I wouldn't be whining like this if I had a lot of time. Next week I'm going to college and all I got is a old as hell laptop which I'm not even sure if it will run SCII Beta.
And if there were no one from outside who is able to participate in beta, I wouldn't be whining either, heck why the hell should I whine for something I had no chance to get in the first place?
I wish Blizzard gave us a benchmark tool or something, but with my luck, I'm sure that laptop will give me some kind of blue screen or something when I finally manage to get in.
I guess we're all sad to see that you have nothing else to do that makes you happy Millennium. So I'll say what you appear to want to hear, your life sucks. I'm glad I'm not you, and I agree with you, you have nothing to look forward to and the universe has aligned to make your life miserable.
Logically, I knew I wasn't likely to get in when Beta started. I definitely did not expect it.
Still, when it didn't happen I was a little disappointed. And now of course I've convinced myself I'm not getting in to the Beta ever and I'll have to wait till Christmas for the game to come out because life sucks.
But I'm sure somewhere in between right now and Christmas is when I'll get to play the game. It's all good.
Of course you should be glad, some people win by birth, some lose, I hope no one is going to deny that.
And I don't know if it's universe but, yeah, something (maybe myself lol) is making my life miserable.
I know one thing that will make me happy though, BETA! (More like being on the lucky guy's side for once)
C'mon man cheer up, isnt there someone near you?, who actually got into the beta so you can pay him some visit and at least let's you play against a computer? XD.
Search for a solution... hmm you can download the client and look at it's screen animation. lol Im out of ideas.
Im out of the first wave as well, Im a blizz 08' key holder, and Im as you a lil' dissappointed.
But hope's still here =D. And just, cmon go out drink some coffe or w/e something that doesnt involves SC on it XD.
guys take this convo to off topic or to ishouldkillmyselfnow.com but either stick to the topic or gtfo.
