After a few hours, I've had enough. The SC2 Zerg Adjutant's voice is SO ANNOYING. It takes too long to say everything compared to the Protoss or Terran, and the voice is just grading and high pitched. I want it gone.
What do you all think?

Couldn't agree more. That's gonna get really annoying really fast.
I dunno... I think it has lots of personality to it. It certainly has a creepy/evil/swarmy feel to it. There's a definite subservient vibe to it which works for the Zerg (especially since we play Kerrigan in the campaign).
For once I will agree with Demo... She has to leave.
I'm not disagreeing either.
The first time I heard it I was like... what... the... hell. This will get annoying SO fast, it takes way too long to translate the message. And it tries too hard to sound creepy/zergish.
The SC1 voice was perfect, they need something along those lines that sounds good and fast without trying too hard and failing.
It's too slithery. Reminds me of the Kerrigan voice actress in the zerg reveal demo. God.
It's the Queen, right? Ugh. I'd rather something more akin to the Overmind.
Kill it with fire, but convinced its temporary.
Question... Is this genuine dislike, nostalgiaism or just a knee jerk reflex? Only time will tell, I guess.
"Not enough... MINERAAAAALS."
No thanks.
Kill it.... With fire!!!!
Well, maybe its not exactly 'kill it with fire' caliber, but it definitely cant be this annoying, this soon.....Eventually, every response in every RTS will get to you after a bit, (Even, "GO! GO! GO!" three times in a row can piss me off).....but this is close to, "Big boy...training" level of annoyance....
WTB Overmind voice
God, this female voice is horrible. Doesn't sound Zerg at all.
At least the Overmind sounded creepy and alien and as though it was a compound mind speaking.
Why did they think that would be even a good stand-in? The time it takes for it to convey it's message is relatively long.
Adjutant: "Weee aaaare --"
Player: "Yes yes, go on!"
*hive cluster is destroyed*
Adjutant: "Undeerrrrr attaaaack!"
Player: "Wait, what?!"
BTW Drakonis, loving the avatar. Higurachi, eh? ;)
Yeah, the Zerg Adjutant sucks, and that's not the nostalgia talking either (plus I'm not even a Zerg player). The others sound different, but are still awesome.
It can still be female, but make it less slithery and put it through more filters.
I'm pretty convinced its a placeholder.
I really have no feeling one way or the other, I guess it could be better, but I'm not getting the want to puke reaction you guys are.
Agreed.
As for it taking too long to relay its message, are you sure that's not just an illusion due to its draggy/exaggerated pronunciation (i.e. it only seems/feels longer than it actually is)? Think about it... Blizzard has all the sound files on hand and can see their respective durations. Would they implement an alarm set that is appreciably longer than the others?
its sounds really lame... also id prefer if it talked a bit faster cuz alot of this stuff are pretty important in a competitve game
Mm, no, it does take it longer. No illusion. I listened to the other Advisers, who are swift and efficient. I suppose the sound designers will think frequent players will memorize the warnings and know what it'll say with the first syllable, or something like that. Still doesn't really help though.
I've gotta say, from what I've heard, I'm not fond of the voice :S. Might grow on me, but my first impression is that it's kinda iffy :[.
i hate it.
there's not that much more i can say about it...
other than that blizzard can do better than this
I can live with it but they can do better for sure.
The should have just increased the pitch on the old overmind voice...
well i dont hate it but yes is really really weir, when i hear i was like "WTF???" big time, is strange the way she prolongs some letters and the tone is yeah, annoying, but for some reason i think it fits with the zergs...
but on the other hand to me they sound much like the Wraiths Queens from StarGate: Atlantis.
I say make it shorter and to the point. But I rather like the female touch. No more "male" Cerebrates and Overmind anymore.
I like the idea of using a female voice. (Though it'd make more sense if the default building portrait was the Queen...) But yeah, this one is a bit too screechy.
Agreed, get rid of it.
Bring back the menacing and ominous overmind style voice POST HASTE
But the Overmind and its Cerebrates are dead. Queens are the ones in charge now. Just keep the female voice, but they can work on them.
I think the voice is fine, just change the pacing. Some of the pauses take too long and are overly dramatic.
How about introducing the option to choose what adjutant voice type you want?
It doesn't have to be the overmind, regardless of lore a voice like that would sound heaps better.

We require more miner-alls...
My thoughts exactly. Not having them change it wouldn't make me stop playing Zerg or buying the game or anything, but Blizzard can do better. They've still got 4+ months.Quote:

No. That's declaring failure. That's saying, "Well, we can't make a voice sound half-way decent, so let them pick between these voices." This is fricken Blizzard we're talking about.Quote:

Nah, there's purposefully corny, but this is bad. Everyone walking by me goes, "What the heck is that voice!? Turn it off!". I think the voice itself is sort of funny, but does definitely need another pass.
Of all the things they'll change, I somehow doubt this will be one of them. I have no factual evidence to back that up, it just seems... unlikely to me.
I hope for the majority's sake this is true of this voice, I just figured they'd have the voice work all cut and ready by now.
Speed it up a bit, then we'll see.
