Well the thing is, I assume a portion of WoW players want to sign up for the WoW catacylsm beta, or the Diablo3 beta.

When you sign up for any of the betas, by default - all 3 (SC/WC/DIABLO) are checked.

So yeah..

1) Free in game pet if you convert your WoW into a b.net account
2) Signing up for ANY beta = Sign up for SC2 beta UNLESS you uncheck it (BUt who is SERIOUSLY going to do that haha? Especially since people are selling SC2 keys for 300$++ a pop)

Good point, I honestly forgot about the screen where you check which you're interested in.

Oh, and on gamereplays.org they have a new topic that is saying that a new wave of keys was sent out a few hours ago. No luck on my end apparently.

Yep, it looks like wave 3 went out late last night with multiple confirmed reports.

Yeah, there are almost 4k people playing this early in the morning when its usually around 2k

If we get a key, we should see it in our Email and an option for SC2 beta on our Bnet profile page correct?

Depends on how you get the key. For opt-in, I think you just see the option on your battle.net profile page.

Yeah new wave confirmed.

Logged in at 7:55AM -7:00 GMT. 6400++ players on.
Typical saturdays have only been 2500.

Those #'s are still sorta a joke. I bet 3/4th of the people who got in via blizzcon are not even playing since they're mainly WoW fans (No offence at all) but thats just how it is.
They said their beta window time is only 3 months now because it was cut in half..
well at this rate..the beta will most likely peak at 20,000 players.
Maybe the last 5 days, they will give out 100,000 , then maybe at the last second - an open beta ?

It feels like they wanna hype this game up too...by choking the fans on the beta

I'm holding out hope for an open beta because I don't see why Blizzard wouldn't want to truly test Battlenet's abilities with a number of players similar to what it might be like once the game is for sale.

The beta is gonna last a few months. Like any other Blizzard beta, expect a massive open stress test near the end. I expect a peak of closed beta particpants from 20k to 50k.

Then at the last week I assume they'll release the client as open and let anyone with a Battle.net login to go at it. I'd imagine the last week of may?

Then the game goes off for GOLD proccessing and hits shelves at the end of june or July1st.

So there were 3 waves already?

working that long for the community and I didn't get it? I was expecting from some people to turn their back on me but not excluding me from Beta tests and the least thing I expected as a reward was a damn beta key

Basically, if you do not have a key as of right now - you're screwed. That sucks ass. I'm sharing an account with 5 people, getting one game done without getting kicked off is miracle in itself.

Wow. Didn't think the numbers were so high. I always see around 3000 People on late night PST.

Hmmm... I still would bet on an open beta at the end to test the server's true abilities.

By then we would be so close to release the feeling of "I'M PLAYING SC2" isn't going to feel anywhere as good as it does now or anyone who's touched it before P:

Where did that come from?

I was simply implying that perhaps by the time Open Beta comes around it might be best to just wait for full release rather than be disappointed by the Beta. What ever the person ends up doing its their choice. This is just my opinion on the matter.

I know, I didn't mean for it to come off like I was attacking you (if it did). I'm just saying people will have different state-of-minds, and that was a poor attempt at sarcasm on my part.

Makes me pretty thankful that I just got in o.o Well, a short while ago, but I have been moving and had no internet for a bit over a week so I had no clue (got the email on the 5th). Now I have internet but my computer is broken until my parts come in this thursday/friday. I cant wait!

If anything, that statement makes me think they are more apt to go to an open beta. If they didn't want one, they would flat out say no. By saying it isn't planned as of now, they haven't ruled it out.

It was a new wave I think meant for inviting friends of the current beta testers. The imaging and format was exactly the same as the Blizzcon keys in the E-mail but the wording was different, mentioning that this is a "Friend Invite" key.

Someone on gamereplays posted an email they received today from Blizz... Apparently they got a key. Some people responded saying they heard a third wave of keys for friend invites was going out very soon, if not today/last night.

Nevermind, he confirmed with the person who he received the invite from that it originated in one of the original waves, nothing new...

No, but nothing wrong with some realism either. I'm pretty sure there was no open beta for Warcraft III and there most likely won't be for SC2.

I don't think there would be a point for an open beta since once they get everything how they want it, they could just release the game. That and they have been working on this game for a very long time I'm sure they are ready for the fruit of their labors.

^ They won't be able to fully 'stress-test' the system unless they send out another 100,000+ keys or just make it open beta. Last thing Blizz wants is to launch a game they spent a few years making, and then have the servers crash.
