Re: Training Gifted's son
Hahah, that's incredible!
(young) Children won't understand as much the importance of 'winning', or defending for that matter. A good idea might be a custom map where he needs to build a certain number of Marines and bring them to a beacon right next to the base. You then give a visual reward, something fun and exciting to play with like a Battle Cruiser, or an Archon (something big and colorful preferably, and perhaps continue on with the "move to this beacon" idea. I'd continue on the notion of "building" and "moving" more so then attacking though.
Eventually throw in a couple of Zerglings to provide a threat, but it'll be tough to make sure he doesn't get frustrated with the quick loss of his units. The goal should be for him to learn how to build a defense to hold off from an attack, and then eventually how to build up a large enough army to take out a sunken colony and a Hatchery.
I'd use plenty of sound effects (extracted using Star Forge from the StarDat.mpq) to provide encouragement and keep it light and playful.
Bundles of joy. :)

I might be able to get a small video of him beating portal (and attempting to sing along to the credit song) today... here's to hoping it works :)

a) All pictures of our children are meant to be later used a blackmail. It helps us stay out of old peoples homes and being beaten by socks filled with quarters longer.
b) My daughter has been playing starcraft for years (not since 2 mind you) and she loves it. Her problem is....multitasking lol. So I'll be getting my a$$ handed to me, and I'll be yelling at her for backup, and she's like "Um....I'm not sure I have enough yet..." and a quick inspection of her base yields no room to build anything, a maxed out supply limit of just marines doing that weird little bob as they look back and forth. I can almost hear them screaming PLEEEEEASE send us IN! So that's where we've been working on now....attacking lol

What's wrong with a little guy playing SC?
Re: Training Gifted's son
Kid should be playing something else or be active outside. Maybe thats why tear is sad hehehe. I trained my cousins and a friend in SC warfare. I did something to them that they never could do to me....box them in with protoss cannons. Even to this day. Hehehehe...they wont beat this old warhorse that way. :D
