Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
Just finished reading it. Seems very legit.. alot of step by step instruction with everything.
-
Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
Looks legit.
This would confirm that you can play against computers.
-
Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
I can confirm this this may be fake.
:D

Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
Man O man, I hope BlizzCon key holders get in the first wave.
-
Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
This looks fake to me. It also recycled old images. (Never mind, poster said he used them on purpose)
How does something like this get leaked though?
-
Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
Zhydaris confirmed a few days ago the first wave consists of blizzcons, contest winners and other means, and a few opt-ins. And stated that Blizzcon keys are around 20,000. and probably a quarter of those will go unused or have no interest in SC2
-
Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
fake or not, beta will be out in 3 up to 10 days

Good to know! If this article is legit, it looks like it automatically saves your replays of all your recent games without you having to do it. This is very cool.

After a couple of patches, StarCraft 1 does that too now. Although it only saves your most recent one.

the website probably just added those images in so that readers could refer to what the FAQ was talking about

Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
Indeed. after the ingame microphone question, the picture has zero relativity to the question. There just there to make it look "pretty"

So...right. It doesn't do this. That's kinda my point.

Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
How do I enable or disable voice chat?
Click the microphone button located on the lower-right corner of the screen (next to the time). When there is a line crossing out the microphone, voice chat is disabled.
NOOOOOOOOooooOoooOoooOoOOOOOOO
I hate voice chat -....-
I guess this has been confirmed for some time? I dont remember -- but i hate when games have built in voice chat, this makes me very unhappy its completely unnecessary

Unfortunately it's 2010, mein freund! Voice chat is simply a part of modern online gaming. It's faster and more efficient. Is it a little awkward? I guess. Anyways, you don't have to use it.

Sorry, I assumed that it wasn't common knowledge. To be honest, I had no idea it existed until I checked my replays folder.
I assume the logging is not much different, except being several more. After a couple more games, I'm guessing the older saves are replaced. So in the end, it might not be all that different with you having to save some anyhow.
Or not, but I only assumed that was the function from your post ("all your recent games"), as the link itself wasn't that clear.

Either way, I think an archive of your recent games is quite awesome.

I know this isn't the thread for this -- and its not that its awkward but I feel like at least on the PC voice chat is readily available and easy to use, and frankly its annoying to have to mute people on a constant basis.
Look at something like xbl or psn --- I have to mute 2-3 people in almost every single game just because they dont understand how to (1. Setup there Mic to not have insane amounts of feedback 2. Play music 3. Are just annoying)
Now this isn't as bad on the PC, since its not as big as a problem for me on something like HoN( but its still a added annoyance) And while there is a option to turn it off-- people will still be using it, in a game like HoN it sucks that me turning off voice chat completely takes me out of the communication with other people that are using it. So no matter what im going to have to keep it on and just mute people that are annoying, which i feel is a unnecessary feature - not to mention most ingame voice chat lack key features ( like the ability to make someone screaming and someone talking normally the same volume)
But your right its the new age- and I need to just deal with it, I just didn't know this was confirmed till right now. It wont be SO bad I guess.
ONTOPIC --
Its awesome that the replays are saved, so many games I play im like "damn this game is awesome, Im going to save this replay" Only to just hit quick-game before thinking..

Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
Hopefully at the start of the game voice chat is naturally disabled and something you turn on, not the other way around >.<

not really much of a prediction, given that theres only 13 days left in Feb, and they wont release it on the weekend, so from now til Feb 26th is the window of opportunity. You are one day off from the maximum "prediction limit"
but to prove my powers of prediction are better than yours, I predict that Larry King will die in the next 25 years.

I think that there was a quote from someone at Blizzard recently mentioning how small the replay files are? If they are really small, I think Sc2 should uniquely name and save every game I ever play and let me choose when to delete them.
-
Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
there the same size as SC1 replays they said

You break it into little bits with a grenade launcher.

No need. Hard disk space isn't exact a premium, and replays don't even show up as a blip on the radar. All you need is for each file to have a time&date as part of the filename, and you can have every game you've ever played stored on your computer.

Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
Just to make things interesting, I'm gonna call fake :p.
I just feel that too much of the info can be surmised from the Bnet preview.
Also, although I haven't seen many FAQs of this sort, needing to ask how to EXIT the StarCraft 2 beta seems like a silly question :p.

For the same reason i think this is legit, FAQ are silly by deffinition.
How do i select an unit?
What is the goal of the game?
Why the 3 race are not human?
Why do i smell funny after a week without washing myself...?

The FAQ was just deleted by a blue.

I was gonna say that, but who knows, in 50 years we may have some crazy technology. but not by the time Larry King dies.

That proves it's real.

Re: starcraft-source posts a leaked Beta FAQ?
Either way, as solid as this looks, most of the information is very generic and either directly taken from QAs/vids/blue posts, or can be inferred. I believe if you spent a few hours researching in a few places, looking at previous Bliz Beta FAQs, and using spell-check, you could come up with a FAQ like this. I'm not saying it's fake, but it's no big deal either way because the real (or official release) will be out shortly.

Also a thing to note, much of that beta faq is taken from here
