Re: If beta is not in your future...
Back in Nov. I downloaded the original Sins of a Solar Empire demo and really got into it. The game has no campaign of any kind and a paper-thin background story, but awesome scenarios and tough, intelligent AI.
Anyway, I had my wife buy the full game for me for Christmas and it has sat unopened on my desk until yesterday.
I highly recommend it, if a blend of RTS and 4X style game play is your cup of tea. It sure does pass the time. A single scenario can take days and you won't really care. Haven't tried multi yet.

This one gets a recommendation from me too. Also, expansions are cheap :)
Re: If beta is not in your future...
Well I picked up the Valve complete pack. I haven't gotten to play Mega Man 10 yet because my wife lost a family member and has been off for bereavement watching BBC miniseries all day. Everyone copes in different ways.
My new system is finally complete with the procurement of the ASUS VW246H monitor. It's my first monitor with a 2ms response time. Now the painful wait really settles in. I'm very excited for Mega Man, and just when I kind of finish it they'll be releasing DLC for me in April. Then I'll get Super Street Fighter IV, plus I just remembered Final Fantasy XIII. I'll definitely have my hands full for a bit, but I've really given myself the worst case of want by downloading the beta client and watching replays. I'm so much more worked up than I have been at any point in the past. Oh well, there's lots to do and I'll just keep having fun playing other stuff in the meantime.
Re: If beta is not in your future...
Sounds like you got a sweet machine there. Or at least monitor
Re: If beta is not in your future...
Sorry to here that SinsWage, hope everything goes well.
Re: If beta is not in your future...
I am right this moment installing Supreme Commander 2... going to give it a go and see how it is :)
Will edit in what I think when I get the time.
Edit 1: *Note to self* Do not turn the graphics on high unless you want the computer to turn itself off again due to oveheating.
Getting back to this as soon as I have turned everything to "low" and experimented a bit more :P
Re: If beta is not in your future...
Thanks for the concern Killa, I appreciate it. I also look forward to your info on Supreme Commander 2 Equiliari, it does intrigue me. And I'm pretty happy with the PC. It's the first time in my entire 24 years of gaming that I've had a PC that couldn't be described as mediocre at best. It's also my first custom rig.
I got the Antec Sonata III case for 50 bucks. I got a 750 watt power supply and the computer shop bought the 500 back for a discount on the case.
http://www.newegg.com/product/produc...ases-_-NA-_-NA
8 gigs ddr3 1600mhz ram
radeon 5870 256 bit 1gig ddr5
Asus sabertooth 55i motherboard
Intel i7 860 2.8 mhz (I haven't got a fan good enough to OC yet)
Logitech G19 gaming keyboard
Coolermaster storm sentinel mouse.
I didn't go all the way nuts with the processor because the performance vs. price just didn't seem to add up and the computer guys at the store agreed with me. After looking around I probably could have scaled back the GPU as well to the 5850 and been more than fine but I had stars in my eyes building my first computer. I can already tell I'll never go back to buying a boxed PC. Not having fifteen different programs asking me to be the default for media files or needing to search to root out the 12 versions of AOL garbage is so nice. I never really understood the term "bloatware" until now.
Anyway if any of you guys play games on PS3, Xbox360, Wii or Steam I'm going to start a thread for online ID's and request a sticky so we can all play together.

Dang...I'm impressed at the machine. I just got my computer this past christmas and its not top tier but it will last me at least 5 years and can play every game at the moderate specs if not higher. Start the thread if you havent done so already :D

Awesome...I thought about picking that up. I'd like to know what you think of it.
Re: If beta is not in your future...
Supreme Commander 2 is terrible, at least compared to the first game. They really took a lot out just to stream-line it and make it more mainstream which it hurt it more than help it.
SC2 Beta may not be in my future but the retail will be with all the beta bugs fixed as well as being fresh and a single player campaign.
