Should we now call Blizzard product jokes instead of apple ones?

A unit with a whole extra attack is not 'virtually the same'. Also, this new one is built in the Factory and can be carried by Dropships.

Yeah, that's kind of what we mean, gone from general play.

I LOVED that idea, I know it was unpopular, but it would have been SO much fun. Plus, I get a bit of a hard-on for low tier units having useful roles later in the game, and this was quite the ticket for Terran infantry

Re: It's been a long journey!
Looks more lunar-y than frost-y to me.
I mean that's a pretty lame ice tileset if it is one.
-
Re: It's been a long journey!
snow will look really good imo in sc2
-
Re: It's been a long journey!
I hope it looks better than that last screenshot then, because that looks more like encrusted salt than snow (actually, encrusted salt might look pretty good on a desert map if it comes to that).

Yeah, actually, I'm pretty sure that's New Antioch. The map shape is about the same, and there's all the tall grass.
-
Re: It's been a long journey!
The map is Phaeton, which was also used for the 2nd game of the Blizzcon 2v2 exhibition.

Re: It's been a long journey!
I'm going to make a Use map settings game and recreate Big Game Hunters from SC1 , and redo the tech tree to mirror SC1. Wonder if anyone will want to play it.
(all the units from SC1 are in the Galaxy editor)

Hahaha, this was funnier than the sarcasm itself.
I think that i will miss the drop pods, the thor being built by an scv, the old queen, the original mothership ( i remember when i first saw the presentation video, and saw the time bubble stopping the missiles, my jaw hitted the floor).

Huh? Are you talking about reactors or something else? As far as I know that is still in, but I get the impression I'm missing some sarcasm/inside joke about something earlier.

As far as I know that's still possible with a reactor add-on (it was still in at Blizzcon '09).
-
Re: It's been a long journey!
Barracks, Factories and Starports all share two add-on's now. The Tech Lab and the Reactor. The tech Lab allows the production of advanced units. The reactor lets a single Barracks, Factory, or Starport build two Marines, Hellions, Vikings, or Medevacs at the same time. This is still in the game and has never changed.
-
Re: It's been a long journey!
So the only factory unit that can be made with a reactor is the Hellion? Why would anyone want to double pump Hellions?

Critical mass?
Why wouldn't you want to double-pump Hellions if you could? =S

To counter Zergling hordes created by Spawn Larva.
-
Re: It's been a long journey!
hellion speed make them amazing micro harrassers early game on main economies and early natural expansions
-
Re: It's been a long journey!
So you guys would make a reactor for a Factory instead of making Factories with tech labs, at any point in the game?

It's too early to answer that exact question based on our limited knowledge of the game.
However, if there is any "mech" build that focuses on factory production/upgrades, then hellions are an important mineral sink for complimenting your army.
The question is "are hellions adequate support units in your standard army?" If the answer to that is yes then the answer to your question is also yes.
It's like in TvP where a player might have 4 factories with no add-ons and 2 factoriess with add-ons. The first 4 are dedicated to vulture production and the last 2 are for tanks. Now a terran can accomplish the same with 4 factories instead of 6 if there's a match-up where similar mech strengths apply.
-
Re: It's been a long journey!
pretty sure they'll both have their uses and advantages/disadvantages
imagine being able to produce two vultures from a given factory
yea..
-
Re: It's been a long journey!
Remember back when Colossus had a tracking beam that could have a player set pathway?
Or did we just want there to be a player set path? It was so long ago, I forget.

Re: It's been a long journey!
It aint over till at least June

That was never in the game... that'd be impossible to micro properly.

Re: It's been a long journey!
I've already made peace with the fact that I probably won't get into beta but for Pete's sake give us the SPECS!!1!!!

that sent me searching for tat thread... as im still sceptical about the colossus mode of attack, the disucssions we had about it back when the unit was so clearly underpowered in videos still seems quite relevant.
as it turned out, this thread wasnt it, but just a similar one: http://blizzforums.com/showthread.php?t=21662
im guessing this is the other one, only read a few of the pages at the end.. http://blizzforums.com/showthread.php?t=21186&page=11

Re: It's been a long journey!
No, it was before the line.
The colossus would start with an attack, and if the target died before the beam was done firing, then it'd automatically switch to another target without a hitch.

Re: It's been a long journey!
Wanky forum necromancer revived my topic? So I'll bump this since his got closed. :)
