There is an assumption that Avarius knew. What happens if no one was aware of it's public nature, as they're too busy working for each of their own deadlines and he was simply testing the posting functionality for testing completeness. If the Web Design is based in the EU operations, it would make sense to make one post on each forum for testing/data collection/debugging which could explain why English information is presented on a single forum we can see that doesn't use English as a base language.

Was this confirmed as a mistranslation ? I find it hard to believe beta invites will go out days before the actual beta, as they've never done that before. but if not a mistranslation...then that's awesome. maybe keys will come early this coming week Mon-Wed

I examined that blue post just now word by word. I'm going to update it as I found out something regarding google translate.

Gli inviti are the words in question. When you leave those words alone, it shows "Invitations" but if you take the other words in the sentence the term "invitation" changes to "calls".

For that reason I'm going back to edit in the correct term "invitations" to the original news post. I suspected that calls was a word that was one of many translations and this seems to be the case. Google simply misinterpreted the information in there.

Wait, so what does THAT mean?

So does that mean it was a mistranslation as in beta keys WILL be sent out early? or they wont be since they've never done it.

Based on your own experience, is this something a company would do just a couple DAYS before release of a beta or a week or two?

My sources (whom are not associated with SCL, btw) tell me beta could be officially announced or even start as early as monday.

that would be amazing, but I still wouldn't say any earlier than friday

Monday is an American holiday... that would be nice.

To clarify from what I understand, the beta invitations can be given out days before the beta officially opens.

From my experience in the industry, this is a term of preferences that has some benefits and consequences in multiple ways. In light of your questions, I've gone out to realize a few of the words were translated poorly by google translate. For this reason it's good to see the updated translations (they are fixed in the news post)

Here are some pieces of information that we have to examine:

When I worked on Day of Defeat when it was just starting out as a mod, there was no "office" but only late night texture updates lol. kinda regret never getting into the gaming industry. ah well.

i really wonder how much they get paid for working in weekends, over-hours and sometimes sleeping in a couch, must be horrible that kind of life T_T, not wonder why they use beer to balance the game xD

Just an old article that gives a clue why people are more than willing to work for the company. The treat their people right. Besides that, the people who work there are PASSIONATE about their projects and only want to see them suceed.

While many people who don't understand this style of business may view it as "bribery"... it's definately a level of "reward".

Well, actually... lately it's also had a larger tinge of ME2 from what I hear :) I've played a few games of L4D2 with a few of them.

Blizzard is a succesful company like Relic and Westwood full of staff with passion. Mainly they get a lot of free stuff under their own brands; but I believe that the best profit out of it, is the feeling of building games that will be played for decades by people like yourself.

been there since yesterday afternoon, along with a placeholder FAQ thread if you click on the bottom right subforum!

I know they were up, but they weren't linked on the welcome page all day (for me).

And I can access all the other languages now, too.

Besides, On that line I actually went to an Italian to English online dictionary and looked up the meaning of each individual word and couplets besides getting direct assistance. The only issues with the translation as a whole is that the CM misspelled a word (He wrote qualorao,not qualora) so it didn't get translated and the words for for "invitation" was misunderstood by Google as "call" even though the language can mean both by the words used. (inviti)

In other words, yes, this is a correct translation.

i just checked my beta invitation and it was on a wednesday, and to my knowledge the servers came up on Friday... if i remember correctly

19th Starcraft II Beta starts? I hope so!
