no, not crossfire
btw you thought about 5830 instead of the 5770?
it fills the performance gap between 5770 and 5850

whoo dude... that's a big price gap - performance wise it's actually closer to a 5770 then a 5850 :P
i think i might as well go for a 5850 if i'm jumping into the $200-300 range
I may end up buying this video card tomorrow..

should max out SC 2 right?
ahhh damn....
how about this?

That 9800 might struggle a little bit - my 9600 is able to run the game with everything but textures on high at around 30 fps
so spychi.. do you say no no to the Geforce 9800 GT? or should i go ahead and purchase it? what do u think of the card?
256bit memory bus is a standard now, alot of great cards have it
my 5870 1GB has 256bit memory bus, but on GDDR5
BTW - The 9800 GT is just a rebranded 8800 GT. They were quite excellent. (They're getting old though, since they're from 2007)
I was fully able to play Crysis with an 8800 GT in late 2007 - and wss definately able to max out all the very few RTS games I have. (C&C3 & Red Alert 3 amoung the newest)
But if you wan't to remain future proof, you really should get one of the DX11 supporting cards. (None of the Nvidia cards currently support it)
um not true
9800GT is based on a new chip, different memory bus and alot of improved stuff
I'sn't the last card in a series usually based on new tech? 9600's ARE rebranded 8800s though
8800 has a 448bit memore bus
The only ones I've heard of having 448 memory bus is in the 200 series - The 8800 Ultra had 384 which was the highest back then. (Apart from that superversion which you seem to have found or heard of)
Guys, I need your thoughs on my PC. I absolutelly deny to run SC2 in the lowest graphic quality, some tell me if my ride can pass the test,
processor:amd athlon dual core QL 62 2.00 GHZ
Ram: 2 G (windows vista, upgradeable to 4G)
system type: 32-bit operating system
Graphic card: Nvidia 8200 M G,
can I deal with at least the beta version?
you can play on medium/low
hell, its something but not enought...any advise to improve it? I dont want any lag or lassy graphics like when Im playing Dawn of War 2. What do you say Spichy, any cheap and nice advise? What should be changed and improved?
Do you know what socket that Athlon is? 939 or AM2? To be perfectly honest, if it's 939 then it's both your CPU and your graphics card that are slowing you down. For less than $400 you can get a whole new machine that'll run the game on medium extremely well, and on high pretty nice.
A nice AM3 motherboard with some DDR3 and a Radeon 5670 will up your performance probably quiet a bit. What's your price range?
/edit: PS: Sorry I haven't been around this thread lately...life's been very hectic of late!
Easy cowboy, this little piece of junk (my actual PC) was a family gift, and I dont have 400 bucks nor the intentions to change it.
About the socket, I ahve no actual idea. My plan was buying a new video card (PCIE GF9500 GT 1024mb DDR2 Nvidia) and to rise the RAM memory to 4gb, all of that for $150 more or less. I dont want to use all my money to make my PC a monster. First comes traveling to Europe, hehehe.
And thank you for the answers...any toughs about my actual action plan?
Ditch the nVidia cards for the foreseeable future. Upping your ram to 4 gig will only work if you have a 64bit operating system, otherwise you might just end up slowing things down instead of speeding them up. In several cases I've increased my ram past 2 gigs and only had the PC slow down because it was 32bit Vista. Vista is even worse than XP when it comes to memory management.
For your graphics card, I'd recommend a nice Radeon 5670. It does quite well in its price range and its got DX11...which isn't that big of a deal at the moment, but it'll save you from having to buy a new card in six months (DX11 is picking up much faster than DX10 did when it comes to games).
You'll get around 60fps at 1680x1024, high details in DoW2.
Or, if you decide not to increase you ram, you can opt for a very nice 5770, which is what I currently sport, and it handles the beta JUST fine at ultra settings. Course, in your case, Ultra settings will be slowed down more by your processor than by your graphics card, but a 5770 will handle it nice.
Well, thank you for the news! Actually that was some really usefull information. He, I could ask you how to install some damn games I downloaded some days ago via torrent. All the cracking is killing me, even if its to play Chaos Rising.
Cheers
So guys, now Im looking to sell my actual piece of junk and Im looking for some new laptop. Im actually looking in bestbuy for some Compaq, IŽll link the page. Thoghts please?http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Compaq+-...&skuId=9755446
Bad strongcoffee, bad! Best Buy is the enemy of the true Geeks and almost evil incarnate. Also the link came up dead for me.
I almost never recommend laptops for gaming. Yes, yes I know they're way better than they used to be, but a case that small has no right having gaming components in it with such poor airflow.
If you must have a laptop, there are many good choices available from Amazon and Newegg. Take a look around there.
Whoa, now THATS though love. If you own a dog, I dont envy his life.
But that was a good (and fun, you get cookie for that) to open my eyes to the awfull truth. That PC was even lamer than my actual machine. The good thing I can sell my actual machine for 500 bucks in my own country ( theres a game with the dollar value. Stuff here usually cost the double as the prices in USA), so Im thinking in this little shinny gem. Thoughts?

I don't, so no worries :D
I do my best! And I like cookies! :cool:Quote:

I've had pretty good success with Gateway laptops in the past (two of my five laptops have been Gateways and they've always ran pretty well). It looks pretty good. It won't be a monster gaming laptop but it should run things. I don't have any personal experience with that particular machine or any of its particular components, although my laptops have always been mobile AMD/ATi (I stick by my guns when it comes to them, hehe) so you should be in pretty good company.
Too bad that NVidia's new 400 series cards suck for the price/performance. I have an nforce motherboard but will probably end up buying a radeon. =/
Also, remember guys, here is the link for 1080p benchmarks for video cards: http://www.legionhardware.com/articl...ormance,4.html
This 80 dollar card will more than max out SC2 at 1080p: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-535-_-Product
Yes indeed, awkward amount of RAM as well.
On the other hand, only the 470 and 480 are released so far.
Personally I never touch the first batch hardware of any brand, so I'll be waiting a while before considering a new GPU.
Right now one of those full HD, 200Hz, 30+ inch monitors/TV is my next purchase plan. :D
My experiences and personal benchmarks have not entirely meshed with LegionHardwares. Not to say that they are completely wrong, but in that price point I've had way more success with THIS $80 card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-319-_-Product
Plus, the 5670 has awesome power consumption/heat numbers and is fully DX11. That'll save you from having to upgrade your card to handle the new shiny DX11 games.
But the 9800 does indeed do pretty dang good for its price range.
And yeah, the new nForce (and Fermi) have been pretty big failures for nVidia. It's a pity.
*sigh* i get far to much joy from that song.
