So I spoke to my wife and confinced her I couldn't put anything together that was reliable and decent for less than $1000. That's still includes the operating system but I can at least squeeze some better parts.

Dang, that's a nice increase right there! In that case definitely go with Spychi's list but swap in a 5850 and a Xonar. Not sure how much that would put you in, will have to check later when I'm not so busy at work. Or let spychi do it for you :DQuote:

Well I'd love to have that card I can't pull another $50 out of anywhere. I already have to give up my paintball budget for the next 6 months for this computer and I can't really give up anything else as I don't have anything else to give up.
