There was no thinking involved. No decision making. Pro players ultimately would end up getting a stopwatch on their desks which dinged at a set interval, reminding them of the optimal time to recast the ability.
You misinterpreted deep. Deep refers to at the bottom of the economic pathways. And as far as decision making like I said allot was enviroment. Put it in competition with Time Warp and I think you have some compelling choices.
On one hand faster probes means better Proton Charge but on the other using Proton Charge means slowing down Probe Production.

'Empower' a barracks and it would produce units and upgrades faster, 'empowered' buildings under construction would complete faster, arrow towers would do extra damage, resource gathering structures would recieve more of that particular resource, and the like.
Anyway, I guess that it's important to mention that in AoM, you could easily get by without utilizing, 'Empower' - Obviously, it was a help if you did, but not nec 'game over' if you didn't. If you did utilize the Pharoh, you'd be pretty busy; remembering what you tasked him on last, remembering to utilize him for important pushes, multi tasking him on building reconstruction and so on.
Makes me wonder what they're going to do here. (?)

Oh I was wondering why you were refering to me.
So basically they had the same thing in Age of Mythology.
Re: Obelisk Removed From The Game
That was a terrible ability. It didnt need to be used, as you say, and the gains were minimal at best (hard to tell it was working).
Also, dont forget that Ra's priests could all empower, albeit, not as well as the Pharaoh.
It made sense too because the egyptians built more slowly than the other cultures (but they got free houses and stuff), so theoretically, you needed the pharaoh to keep up production. AoM was a fun game, but terribly imbalanced.
Re: Obelisk Removed From The Game
I think this thread should be more about the Obelisk being gone then the new macro mechanics. How does everyone feel about the Obelisk being axed?

Re: Obelisk Removed From The Game
Good riddance to a terrible idea.

No shields and energy recharging for you.

I for one, was really looking forward to, 'Argus Link' actually - I referred to it in another thread as, "All-you-can-eat-Psi-Storm" and couldn't wait to try it out - Not sure how I feel about the Obelisk; there was a baby in that bathwater somewhere... :)
