So annoying they don't say what it is >.<

Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
Well, that building looks like a main target now...
Resources dropsite, probe construction, mothership contruction, and Macro mechanics?
Damn... so long old bulky and almost useless nexus...
I like this...

Cool! its on the nexus now, good decision i think - I can't wait to find out details!
-
Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
I wonder if it will be just a increase mining speed ability
maybe
I really hope it's something far more interesting
-
Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
Interesting... Very Interesting....
-
Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
Poor race differentiation, Blizzard. No points for you.

Hey, what happened to, "The Sentry's the macro mechanic now! It's bigger and has a new name and stuff!"?
-
Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
This is a good change, means no more obelisk. I'm curious what the exact details of the ability are.
Maybe the nexus goes into a "get more minerals" mode or something.
-
Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
Lulzy update.
It's like being fed tofu burgers instead of nice juicy angus ones.
I'm truly not digging these macro mechanics at all but I will pretend to remain optimistic in the hope of being blown away by the description of the actual mechanic.

Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
Damn you Twitter for teasing us!
*aims his sniper rifle at that stupid blue bird*

Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic

That was a hunch. If youll recall I have also in the past vouched for putting it on the Nexus. I have allot of ideas just like Blizzard does. ;)
New Info from Icks (TL)
The french twitter says: "La capacité améliorée de récolte de ressource des Protoss est désormais accessible depuis le Nexus. #SCUpdate #StarCraft2"
Improved resource gathering ability

Obviously, fall into oblivion!
I don't think they'll keep it, I guess they'll use something new instead!
It's quite funny how it ended up: in the nexus, however I think it would be interesting if it's somehow linked to the old nullifier newly renamed "Sentry"...
thoughts?

Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
Suddenly, n00bonicPlague is reminded of all the times he had suggested moving the mechanics to the Nexus.

Lawl! I do remember that!

Some people were quite against it!

Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
So does that mean that the nexus has atleast one other new spell , so it can compete with the new macro mechanic?

Most likely.

Who knows, lately Blizzard is feeding us through twitter with crumbs
I mean, very little info...
I just hope there is indeed another ability or something to make it interesting...
EDIT
... n00bonicPlague answered earlier....

Agreed. Building a nexus in SC1 was pointless. Hopefully this changes things.
Wait, what?
-
Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
Makes more sense than the Obelisk IMO.
Question is, what now of the Obelisk? Shield Battery 2.0?

Actually, for all we know it might make it even more pointless to build another Nexus. Maybe only one will be necessary, and given how so much of the Protoss army in SC2 revolves around warping...it might allow for remote mineral gather without the need to build another nexus. Maybe players will be able to create a wormhole of sorts that will allow their probes to instantly cross a distance on the map to harvest resources.

That would be a bit of a steep advantage I think.

Could be, but if done properly it could introduce a bit of risk to the player. Consider that this wormhole rift only remains open for a brief period of team after which it dissipates...leaving any probes on the other end stranded and needing to trek back home. The wormhole opening could be very weak and easily destroyed, making it susceptible to ambush tactics.

I agree. The lack of race differentiation with Terran macro is disappointing.
But as a Protoss fan, I am happy not to have to build obelisks at every base for max efficiency.

Me too. But I like that the mechanics now exist in the main buildings. The differentiation can come with the abilities themselves, and the risks/rewards of using them.
The thought of having to build an Obelisk near my mins every game was kinda sickening.

Very true, just hope if they do something like that its not to spammy/exploitable

Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
Perhaps the Obelisk can keep its shield and energy regen spells and possibly even gain a psi field just like a pylon. It would be great for warp-in points.

So basically a shield battery 2.0

What if those were on the Nexus? not quite right, but what would compete with the new macro ability then?

I approve of this line of thinking. Warping is the way of the future.

Why not? If they don't put the special shield regen mechanic back in, the Protoss could still use a shield battery. However, if they do put the mechanic back in, I won't miss the battery.

Re: Nexus Now Has Macro Mechanic
I never said it was bad, I actually wouldn't mind having the obelisk like that.

Its really funny. You guys dont even know what the new macro mechanic is and your already saying its too similar to Terran macro. Ive never heard any of you complain about the Nex, CC and Hatchery all making workers.

Just because it's on the Nexus doesn't mean it comes for free. You will likely have to spend additional money to get your Nexus to be able to use this ability.

No, we're saying that it's location is too similar to the Terran mechanic. They shouldn't have to use the same location for the Protoss as they do the Terrans.
Quote:

And apples are to oranges as starships are to bananas. Each race having a main building that produces workers is a simple necessity of the resourcing gameplay. And even then, these are different buildings. The Hatchery is the center of all Zerg production. The CC had add-ons in SC1 and has upgrades in SC2. Giving the Nexus the equivalent of an OCC is just giving the Protoss Terran-like functionality.

Yes, but every nexus will have it, so technically you get a free ability with every nexus built instead of having to build additional obelisks.
Kind of like a toy in a cereal box.

I don't understand. If unlocking the ability costs 200 minerals per Nexus, how would that be any different from building an Obelisk?

From the French Twitter Bablefish Translation
Quote:
The capacity improved of harvest of resource of Protoss is from now on accessible since Nexus.
YES!!! Improved Resource Gathering! :D
Please be gas. Please be gas.
Someones going to quote that out of context.
