No, it wouldn't it would just give a bit more range and be much slower than psi-blades as well as restrict movement. The whole point of spears and other pole-arms were to pierce armor and take down calvary units while giving more reach. The Protoss need none of that especially since they could just use ranged weaponry for long reach. The point of the zealot is to get up close and hold the front line.
Yet, protoss have the ability to wield different kinds of weapons. All of them working on psi powers. IIRC Tassadar used some kind of psi wipe during his shadow walk as well as an imitation of his eyes to trick zeratul.
Probably psiblades are the most cost effective, but I do believe there are far more deadlier weapons out there that not all of the protoss can handle.
ANd not only that. It increases the strenght of impact by turning into an extension of ur arms. U can apply the strenght of two arms into one single powerful hit. And its pure energy.Quote:

Guys, it's perfectly ok. Didn't you see that the Protoss have a preference for melee combat? Probably a low-level Protoss warrior on foot cannot project their power in ranged attacks, or something like that.
In the concept of the Protoss guard next to the stasis'd Queen, they guy is armed with a Psi-spear and a psi-shield (like a round psi shield).
The Purifier doesn't look precisely like low-level unit.
The first pic looks pretty cool but the visor looks messed up for some reason (it doesn't look like it slides the same was as the actual marine visor).
The second one... poor hydralisks.

I really like the crest and facial design for this Protoss although the artist messed up by including pupils in the eyes. Still, it's a nice piece.
Wonder who the character is. Really like the design though I can't help but feel that Blizzard's going overboard with the 'badass scar over the eye' design.

The scar on the face is not just a Blizzard trend. I've seen it in Halo and other games as well.
It's to show this person has seen the elephant and with the marine's, you can't exactly see their bodies to see any scars there.
I am curious to see the cybernetics. We've seen it with the AI and with one flag officer, but how well did they pull it off with full realism? Are they in the cinematics?
