"Need a sentry here."
(you beat me by a few minutes)
looks pretty cool. i liked the old tail, but i supposed it looked too awkward for a ground unit.
I will agree, this definately looks more protossy, the other one almost felt like a protossy zerg thing.
You both beat me....Curse my obsessive need to edit...! :)
As I said in my post, I did like the 'fossil' look of the original, but as long as the mechanics stay, I'm fine with it.
sentry... sEnTry... sETr... bETa... ?
So there is hope for all you hellion haters! :O
Ten E points says this has to do with the new Protoss macro mechanics.
Has only the model changed?
i liked the name Nullifier.. oh well, not like I really care as long as it is effective as a unit. models and names are not that important
I like it. The name "Nullifier" only made sense with its original powerset anyway.
Thank God! It's not longer a mechanical Zerg!
I love the new name and the new artwork, keep it comin' Blizzard!
Wait, it was the 'Disruptor' wasn't it? - 'Sentry' sounds better anyway.
Sentry sounds so inocent.
Marine: Hey look a sentry, ive heard about them, they look prett... oh shit aghhhhhhhhhh
*dead*
But i like the new model, i hope that sphere on its back gets some cool animation. And I pray to god that the macro mechanics dont screw around military units....
If that would be the case, then it would mean that the Sentry would become an standard in every protoss game, and that the protoss player would have acess to Forcefields in every game, which was not the case now. ( quite a long strectch : which would also mean that maps could be more open, with more ramps and routs to bases, since 2 of the 3 races can easily block their base)
What do you think?
This is great! The Nullifier name and graphic was one of the only things I disliked about my favorite race.
And I know we all throw around lots of ideas and eventually one will kind of look like something we said, but many months ago, I suggested the Nullifier should look like a Night Elf Wisp. I kind of got what I asked for, a wisp in a mechanical shell. :D
Sentries are too late to be used as comparable macro mechanics to OCC and Queens. Both of them require only the base building, while Sentries (unless they moved them, and I don't want to see Protoss with such fast access to Force Field) require a Cybernetics Core.
nice...

Looks good. Looks like they changed some of the Team Coloring, and they've tweaked the spec on the shaders. I wonder if the glowy bits will be Team Colored too.
I can't wait to see this shader on the Carriers, it should make them look more rounded.
But once your Obelisk is complete, you have access to the spells. You have to build a Sentry after the Core finishes. That takes longer.Quote:
And for the record Core and Obelisk are on the same level. All your talking about is the build time for a Sentry.
Unless the build time for a Sentry is negligible, which would have innumerable ramifications for a caster, it is going to take significantly longer to get a Sentry up than an Obelisk.
It is negligible? So you've played a build of the game and you know this for a fact? Or are you just making things up to fit your ill-informed hypothesis?Quote:
Sentry build time is negligible expecially since all the races macro mechanics are different.
And you're stuck in the "all changes must revolve around macro mechanics" mentality. Shocking though it may be to believe, not everything has to do with macro.Quote:
Your stuck in the "all the races need to be the same or its imbalanced" mentality.
Furthermore, Blizzard obviously thinks that races should get the mechanics at the same time, since that's how they designed them. If Blizzard wanted them at different times, they would have one of them different. They didn't.
Sentry as macro mechanic would probably help protoss anyway since they get it from just straight teching. Right now protoss does gateway, has to save 200 minerals for obelisks, then saves 200 more for a cyb. With Sentry it would just be gateway ->cyb, which would be a major cost saver in the early game (and you're probably going to make at least 1 sentry no matter what)
No idea how build times between obelisk/cyb compare, but like Archer said the races shouldn't be identical. There's nothing innately game breaking about having the protoss macro mechanic take 30 seconds longer to get.
Side-note: I doubt the sentry is replacing the obelisk
Whoot more models for mappers :D
lol i have the same amount of evidence as you do, zero.
That i am.Quote:

Ive made a habit of ignoring all statments that start with "Blizzard obviously..." since they are almost always wrong.Quote:

(Seriously keep an eye out for those on this forum. Youll be amazed.)
Blizzard obviously loves Archer's macro mechanics ideas.
Just keep those Macro Mechs out of the pretty units. Give them to the boring buildings or the boring units (probe, scv, mule, drone, larva).
For now, this unit looks really awesome. Id really like to see the view of the units right now. Specially im interested in the Battlecruiser. My fav unit of all time...
But this little fella looks great.
Gods I must be the only one here who doesn't like the new look (looks awkward), and one of the very few to have picked up on the fact that this thing was the Disruptor, not Nullifier (Nullifier was an earlier name, when it had different abilities and a different look).
Gotta say I like the new model design, it's so protossy, much more than the previous, yet, I still think the name should be "Nullifier". As long as it keeps an ability that works in such a way.
I wonder what the heck has been going on, I'm just gone for some days and everything is changed.
Well, while I ultimately like the changes, I'm not sure how necessary changes were for the Disruptor. It was fine the way it was, really. Particularly, when I look at the Phoenix; besides the name, it still looks like a flying Tiffany lamp that would shatter on a hard glance. Whats wrong with a unit based on the Corsair - with Phoenix abilities?
Nuthin' thass whut. :)
