Hmm, I am a fan of Kane but CnC 4 just doesnt look as fun as the other ones....dilemas
Done...
Sadly, this game is not intended to be as good as its predecesors. The mayor flaw I find in this game is the fact that everything is luck. (Talking about games, luck means the possibilities of a player to get a winning instant game.)
That's old news, I remember Archer trying to make us all join in a months ago. I must say that, after trying the game a bit, I was quite displeased with the lack of depth in the game. Maybe they improved upon that since last time though.
BTW DAUNT IS BACK jajaja
Old guys are comming back. Nice to see you pal.
I do remember archer's changing mood.Quote:

"Something to do until SC2's beta comes out"
"Must find something else [I'm disapoint]"
well, now im studying for a test, i hope to get one key tomorrow.
I'm here often, I just lurk alot^^ And I'm too busy with school stuff to actually attend deep convos.
Anyways, I think the beta just went open, that's the difference between the old and the current beta state. So you're pretty much guaranteed a key. And yeah, it looks kinda boring. It is EA after all, not westwood anymore.
EA Games hasn't made a decent RTS since Generals. Sure, the SP of Genz sucked beyond words, but the MP and balancing were even better than SC1.
While this game brings certain fresh ideas to the genre, I'm not sure they're the right ideas. I'll have to give it a shot one of these days.
BTW...Kane is my favorite RTS character. Yes, even more than the SC ones. Don't get me wrong, I love SC SP, but there's just something about Kane that no one has matched yet. I hope they don't screw his story up too much. If it turns out that he's the current fanboi favorite story of being Cain, the original murderer, HEADS WILL ROLL.
I dont think I pressured anyone to play the game. I was doing the same thing dauntless is doing, alerting forum members in case they wanted to play.
Ultimately, it feels like what happened if you took a sort of combination of C&C and DOTA, gave it a UMS feel and made it the stock game.
I feel the game lacks depth personally after many hours of testing (even in their SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVED revision 10) But ultimately, it comes down to a game with very little of what I'm looking for. It feels "simple" for lack of a better term.
I will say that it still holds that feeling of "fun" overall and is a worthwhile experience to test, but I don't think I'll go out of my way to buy it at all.
You just wait till the macro mechanics are removed. Then we will be in the same boat :p
*sobs quietly in the corner*
Archer, to give a relativity that would be more understood.... StarCraft 2 would have to remove minerals/gas and replace it with a capture the flag mechanic. Remove every building but the command center, give you racial decisions upon respawn (since like an FPS you respawn if your main base dies) and essentially enforce a 5v5 setup. Involve maps with no major dynamics other than doodads that have a king of the hill mechanic involved with them.
Also make all units essentially "free" with equal creation times. Upgrades are also almost instantaneous and based on one member of the team playing constant capture the flag.
Then you might get nearly as simple as this game is... without talking about the UI's oversimplification of skill... It highlights all units which are "weak" to your unit's attacks. There are no soft counters as 1 unit with a counter can take down 7+ units which are unfit against it. I'm sure it'll fix it in the next few revisions, but it sincerely feels more like a UMS map than an actual competition of sorts.
BUT, to speak on it further, what kinda beta test doesn't have a working "attack-move"? *chuckles*
I wasnt saying removing macro would be as simple as C&C4. Just a step in that direction. You can see allot of this in Warcraft 3 gameplay. But Id rather we didnt have another one of those arguements right now :p
That being said I do think a simple game can still be fun (WC3 is a good example) but to really raise the bar a game needs depth.
Oh, I hear ya... just wanted to share an opinion. No offense is intended as I'm sure you see ^_^
Aye, I often forget that simple games can be fun. I just don't look for simple in my RTSs. I look for complex strategies and tactical possibilities....none-the-less I will be looking into CNC4 beta eventually. Just don't have high hopes for it =/
