Yah but it doesnt mean that Bnet has to be finished. The story could just be about how Blizzard was working on Bnet last night and ordered pizza.

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
I think they would really like to report very positive progress in that investor relations call coming up... maybe enough to do some after-the-holidays overtime on getting things tested and ready for the next step.

This brings up and interesting question to me I'd like to ask you all. Blizzard, like any other software development company, has what's considered "crunch time"
With all the information provided by the community as a whole, do you speculate they're in "crunch time" now... if so, how long do you speculate they've been in crunch time...

What would they announce at a finicial conference call if its not beta? The gifts probably dont have to do with the conference call.

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
Ya know, maybe it's just really late, a long day, and the headache...
...but I don't get a SINGLE BLEEDING THING in this thread...

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
Ego, I find it extremely suspicious that:
— your join date is today
— you have only made two posts
— Gifted responded to you and not the others before you
BTW, how are your brothers, Id and Super Ego?

The call is a quarterly thing. The only new thing is that its being streamed over the web...

Rofl!
Add to that
-you used an inside joke from the begining of the old thread ie before you joined

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
I think they could very well be in crunch time. They would need to get hardware together in order to proceed with the next step. I imagine the B.net guys are burning midnight oil (and eating pizzas?)... and so might the QA team(s). It would be a good time to try something like having a large number of concurrent matches going on, or a large number of "users" logged into the new system (maybe a thousand?) all at the same time.
As for how long? Well, I believe the holidays would have been a needed break. Probably the first week of the new year was used for spinning everyone back up on the project. So, maybe starting Jan. 11th? Maybe we should send care packages?
Edit: I joined today because this was too fun to pass up. I have been an SCL lurker since at least May, 2007. I was logging onto the internet from airports yesterday in order to follow the original thread!
Edit 2: I don't know how Id or Super Ego are. Id is too busy eating or fighting, and Super Ego just ignores me :( .

Time is subjective my friend.
*shifts eyes at ego*
Now ego or should I call you DUSTIN BROWDER... *tun tun tun*
Edit: Ok, lets face it, he is "Jake Doe".
Edit #2: Ok probably not, but an alternative account of archer.
Edit #3: No, he is a spam bot...

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
Sorry, I don't mean to cause any ripples. I have been lurking for quite some time and have had plenty of time to speculate. As for detail... because of crunch time at my work I was on the clock for 23 hours yesterday (a lot of that was travel, though... do all airplanes have to have such terrible, terrible seats?).

Well, if I was another of Archer's accounts... I'd be talking to myself?
Spam bot? I haven't tried to sell you anything!.. yet.
A spy? Burn him! Oh, wait...
Gifted, is it "Saturday works", or "works Saturday"? And, do you know how long they've been in crunch time? I can't imagine it was through the holidays, but that is just a guess.

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
I find it interesting that ego and Gifted have never posted at the exact same time....

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
Well, I can pretend to be Gifted... But, in order to do that I need to know everything before I can offer proper "gifts". So, Gifted, can you PM me the info?

I may as well tell you that I'm speaking to JD right now, have been for about 15 minutes. Our conversation so far has been about mundane things like children and pot roasts though...

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
So has the Euro Blizz team played the NA team over battle.net yet? :O
Archer I'm not sure Kicho's post means much. Based on my experience following previous Blizzard games, blues are going to keep saying that until it's really really close. My take on things is there's good news and progress.
Oh yeah, I also would be pretty surprised if there was any relevant beta news at the conference call.

The blues never lie. Well except for "soon" :p
But yah if they say beta isnt ready yet then beta isnt ready yet. They do this occasionaly if a rumour gets way out of hand (as it did with spychi).

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
Got one. It's not beta.
Recall the censorship thingy, boss? The edit tells that the gifts are not pointing to beta.
So, here's my take on it:
It's not beta.
It's not entirely not related to Sc2.
So when this thing gets done, it probably will lead to SC2 beta.
What is it?

I fear that we are over-hyping the conference call. Investors do not know or care what the beta status is, they just want to know when the product will be on the shelf.
I think the only info in that call that will be of any interest to us is what fiscal quarter the release is scheduled for. Which I hope is still 2nd quarter (June).

Yah we figured that out. Besides that we know its a meeting.
So idk could be something, could be nothing.
lol I love how everyone calls me boss now :p

First you must be bloody genious. According to SaharaDrac, he is. He kind of manages LoA's Swiz acount at the same time as he speaks to us, soooo.
And yea I'll probably get shot for this.
-
Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
Maybe not pointing to the beta itself, but maybe talking about the work that needs to be done before the beta can begin? A checklist of 1000 things? Server installations? And if they are working through the weekend, then it seems they are pretty intent on getting all of this moving. If I recall correctly, Caliban113 was offered as a clue. Doing a search I saw that at one point Caliban guessed beta by the end of January. </wishful thinking>
Edit: would JD say how long they were in crunch time if asked?

When did I say he lied? I'm just saying Kicho's response was a text-book Blizzard response and historically they give that reply up until ~99.9%
Kicho's reply doesn't disprove anything. And he was squelching rumors caused as a result of the Korean press stuff.
