Maybe not pointing to the beta itself, but maybe talking about the work that needs to be done before the beta can begin? A checklist of 1000 things? Server installations? And if they are working through the weekend, then it seems they are pretty intent on getting all of this moving. If I recall correctly, Caliban113 was offered as a clue. Doing a search I saw that at one point Caliban guessed beta by the end of January. </wishful thinking>
Edit: would JD say how long they were in crunch time if asked?
Interesting...
Still have about 250+ posts before I catch up with all this....Jeez...everytime I walk away from this thing... :)
Oh yeah, Jan beta is long gone....I think whatever news there is will be re Bnet2......pizzas and all.
From previous thread - long before all the debacle, and many 'gifts'

Worst case scenario....we can all blame "He-who-shall-not-be-named"*.

It's only slow because it's Sunday... and I just found out about someone going on a date with his wife. Go him!

I find it interesting every time I log into www.starcraft2.com in a Sunday afternoon complaining that the blue posters aren't talking to them.... and you look at the history to see a QA on Friday and 4 blue posts between Wednesday/Thursday. Random thought.. I know.

*smiles politely* Can we keep the Spychi circumstance out of this thread please? Part of the reason the first thread was closed was to avoid confusion regarding the two unrelated circumstances.

People are also getting their hopes up too much about the conference call. The conference call is BUSINESS AS USUAL.
Except it's being broadcast over the internet.
Could be a new trend for Blizzard. Or it could actually mean something. Who knows.

This thread followed the same path as some ancient civilizations... Appeared out of the darkness, rose to the top of its magnificence, sloped down a little and found its demise out of nowhere... :(

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
Okay so Gifted said that each gift can stand on its own. He's made it very clear that 1000 is not related to any sort of span of time. Last I read, it refered to some sort of goals. Mass installation relates to a program being installed, but I'm unsure whether that's one massive program going into one computer/server or an en masse installation into multiple computers/servers — could be both. "Wow!" is strictly a reaction to something, perhaps to the fact that the aforementioned program successfully ran. Eight Pizzas is referred to as two gifts. I think the guys testing the program bought pizzas in order to celebrate the program finally working. Then, perhaps they worked like energizer bunnies, continuing tests like crazy. Due to the unexpected success, they decided to reschedule the unveiling of the program to an earlier date, and then did a little happy dance in celebration. They worked on Saturday, running more tests, finding a particular rate of some kind to come to 32 milliseconds.
Gifted's "Chronology of Gifts" comment was telling that the order of the events in the quoted post was wrong.

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
Whatever this is, it might not be anything we care about. Some moderators of other forums who've claimed to have received what they think is the same information have said it's nothing special. It's still very, very, very, very possible that Gifted has different information. Gifted, any comments ... or should I say, gifts? I'd like to not get my hopes up if it's nothing too grand.
It is StarCraft 2 related. I'll let you know more when we know more. And frankly it's not that earth shattering.

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
Honestly I think it's just bnet2. It's technically a big deal (as it opens the door to beta), but I think the concept has lost a lot of luster since we've been expecting for it to come out for quote some time (hence, not exactly being earth-shattering).

I think these kinds of drum beats aren't helpful for the community. We get overexcited, then disappointed. :(

Re: The Gifts of StarCraft 2
On a random note, I find it funny how sometimes, when I look at Gifted's profile, it says he is viewing a thread, yet it doesn't give me a link to the thread, which suggests that he is viewing a closed forum of some sort.
