Suggestion/Question: Galaxy Editor and Campaign
My concern is if these things can be implemented using the Galaxy Editor. The main idea here is that the entire campaign will involve only one planet. In this case, say Aiur. And on this planet, the player would select regions instead of planets, and choose missions within each region.
Like this:

SCENARIO/PROVINCE SCREEN:

CAMPAIGN SCREEN
1. This is where the player can requisition troops, structures, and setup Units for Deployment.
2. This is where the player receives transmissions from characters/factions. A dialog panel will open and the Player may or may not converse through a dialog system that of say Mass Effect.
In this dialog panel, the Character may show some action like the ones we see in the Hyperion's Upgrade panel. Like for example, Vicar Setharun would brief the player and show us a clip which entails how this region fell to the Zerg.
3. This is where the player chooses Regions on the planet and choose to start that campaign. Each mission costs days, and the player can start another campaign in another region.
Depending on the current position of the Player, starting another campaign will cost days. This is also true with missions.
Abandoning a Region for some days may or may not have an effect on the specifics of that region and its subsequent missions. Some missions may disappear, or become more difficult, or rewards may be different.
4. This is where the player sees info of what has been setup, who's who, and the what's what.
5. This shows the region selected and some details.
SCENARIO SCREEN
As you can see the region is now zoomed in. We are in this region and will start taking on missions.
1. This is where the player chooses missions. In this example, we have a single starting node that unlocks two others. Each of the two unlockable nodes will open up 2 and 3 missions which the player can choose to undertake.
As with the Campaign Screen, changes may or may not occur as the player jumps from mission to mission, in failure or success, or if he decides to abandon this campaign to do another one.
2. Display of the current Region and the days remaining for the player to do missions on this region. This days will keep ticking as the player takes missions, fails or succeeds in them. This will also change should the player abandon this region and move to another region.
3. Same dialog panel.
4. Same info panel. As you can see, units are listed, and how many of them has been assigned for deployment. You can also see the maximum number of a certain unit type the player can allocate for deployment.
During the mission, these units will be deployed via deployment. Say, in the likes of Universe at War's deployment thingy.
5. Same info panel. You can see the days you'll spend should you take on this mission.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, my question is, do you think the Galaxy editor will be capable of allowing the creation of this type of Campaign?
Re: Suggestion/Question: Galaxy Editor and Campaign
This isn't that different from the Wings of Liberty campaign structure, except you're using regions instead of planets for missions.
Even that stuff about deployment sounds like an alternate between-mission "tech tree".

I don't know if the editor can handle this, but I suspect yes.
Re: Suggestion/Question: Galaxy Editor and Campaign
Gna, I'll simply say from my educated prespective "Yes". Also, I hope you don't mind, I'm moving this to Mapping/Modding.
Re: Suggestion/Question: Galaxy Editor and Campaign
Thank you. I don't mind at all.
Again, thanks. This means I can get on designing and making plans for an SC2 campaign.
Thanks lots to both of you, good sirs. :)

Yes, almost. DoW2 doesn't have this unit pool thing though. From number 4 up there, you can see that the player actually gets a number of units per "turn". In this case turns means every after the player either succeeds or fails in a mission.
Each mission either adds or reduces this +unit-type depending on each mission's specific effects on that.
The player can also, say, earn accessibility to structures, or be limited on how many structures he can warp-in during a mission, for example. In some missions, it doesn't even matter how many, say, Gateways you have in your structures pool. There's just no way you can warp-in those structures. Like, say, in an installation type mission, or in a mission where the player has to accomplish a prerequisite objective in order to be able to warp-in structures.
If you lose say 25 zealots in a mission, your zealot pool in the campaign will be less 25 once the mission is done. Failure or success in a mission doesn't affect this. What you lose in a mission affects your unit pool in the campaign, and will inevitably affect a player's decision on what mission to take and when to undertake them.
Re: Suggestion/Question: Galaxy Editor and Campaign
So, whats your idea for the campaign story itself?

I'll have to share it when I can. I've gotten ripped-off a few times, or have inspired a few that gotten in my project's way one way or another. so:

But it will be a loose fan-fiction. What I mean is that it may tickle a few lore gurus.
What would be awesome is a few lore guys here would be so kind as to check some storypoints and give an idea of how far such storypoints have strayed from the lore, as I am so left behind from the lore since the books and comics came streaming in.
Re: Suggestion/Question: Galaxy Editor and Campaign
I do know alot about the lore, so I could try to help. I haven't read the new comics though, but I do own the DT saga and the Frontline series.
