False Release Dates Piss Me Off
So I was in Best Buy and looked at the shelf of those cards they use to represent the game, you take it to the cashier and they get you the game from the cage. Anyway, listed "coming soon" were God Of War 3, Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2... and Starcraft 2.
The StarCraft 2 card said "available in March."
These people need to be shanked.
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
Agreed, they need to be shanked hard if they use tricks like this to attract customers!

Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
SC2 is coming in March? This needs to be stickied!
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
Take a photo of it as evidence. Then, when March rolls around and SC2 still isn't released, sue them for false advertising. :D
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
Better yet grab a TV and walk out the door. When they try to stop you tell them that you forgot your credit card but you will return with it in March to pay them.

Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
You were in a Best Buy? Wtf, noob. ;)

Wasn't my idea. My buddy needed to pick up something. I prefer Future Shop.
Even though they are the same company.

Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
Probably its the same card as last year, hehe. They just erased the year.
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
Don't wanna screw your time D, but isn't this the wrong forum?
Anyway, if you look at the store's site, it also appears as Coming Soon though no release date is given.

The site has no release date.
The card that hundreds, thousands of people will see in Best Buy's all over my city and yours says March. Its a blatant lie, and I'm sick of this kind of shit.

Dang, so Squid's Canadian. Learn something new every day.
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
I mean, all in this site is Starcraft related but shouldn't this be more like Issues/Feedback? I though this was to discuss Gameplay or the like.
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
Future Shop, Eb Games and Game Stop all have the same cards and its angering.
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
That means the same guy designed the cards...
*adds clip into gun*
I'll be back
*shuts door*

Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
Yeah, it bothers me but not nearly as much as those who think a million Dawn of War expansions are fine and Call of Duty yearly sequels are grand but yet StarCraft 2 being expanded into three full products of awesomeness is somehow an apocalyptic sin which will doom us all to the eternal fire.
Basically, what I'm saying, if a topic needs to be made threatening a group of people, I think it should be the ones I've mentioned :D The companies posting false pre-order dates are doing it out of the sake of money. This is capitalism. It makes the world go round and has brought mankind out of the darkness of the past.
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
The Dawn of War expansions were well made (barring the last one that wasn't made by Relic). That and they were priced as expansions, not full games.
Blizzard hasn't specifically labeled HoS and LotV as expansions, or that they're going to be priced as so. If anything, they've said stand alone which is even more indication that they're going to price them as full.
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
The most likely reason why retailers are giving out release dates even though Blizzard hasn't even come close to releasing one yet probably has to do with place holder or marketing reasons, I'm gonna bet it's marketing purposes.
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
I wouldn't be surprised if the beta came out in late march or early april, but it sure as hell ain't the release date for the actual game.

I can deal with call of duty and dawn of war yearly cause they can usually add new things, its the yearly sports game releases that sell millions that blows my mind, sports gamers=pants on head retarded.

Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
If those cards sell more than expected, then Christopher Hitchens should write a book about it.
These stuff are a plague of humanity! It's wicked, immoral, and just shows how --

The SC2 FAQ consistently calls them expansions, and they've said they'll be dependent as opposed to standalone. You're right that they haven't specified any kind of price, but if they're expansions I expect it to cost less than the original.

Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
Wa wa wa whhhaaatt!
I have to pay 10 extra dollars for a expansion to a game I love so much im a regular poster on a fan site! No thank you. Ill spend my hard earned money on something else instead. Like a sandwich.

Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
I was specifically pointing out the reason why people in general are conflicted about the 3-game release of SC2. Fans know the real deal, while general public does not understand and in turn complain about it.
But I figure context isn't in your vocabulary, eh?

I knew there must have been some kind of legit reason.

ha, if you dont think they had a little asterisk there somewhere saying dates are not final and conditionally subject to change at the discretion of publisher or something to that effect, you'd be kidding yourself.

The problem is that the single player is also divided into 3 parts. If you want to play the Protoss campaign, you will need to pay for the game and the two expansions. Not to mention, that the real, big ending is in the Protoss compaign, so, you need to pay for both expansions to get the full story.
Of course, the content can be so good as to justify the price, but it's more like a game divided into 3 pieces, than a game and two expansions.

I can't remember where but I believe in an interview blizzard indicated that the trilogy would be priced as a game and two expansions.

Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
Regardless of pricing whats in the box is going to be a blizzard game and then two blizzard expansions.

Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
honestly, why even care yet alone get pissed off when u can read Mass Effect 2 in 7 days inc.
atleast, i dont give a fuck about beta nor sc2 release date anymore. yes ill play it, but dude, swtor and mass effect 3 may even be out before any of those 2.
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
You're obviously not from these parts; SC2 is our Saviour. Nothing can top SC2. We've been waiting for it for over a decade. Nothing else but SC2 can quench our thirst for The One Game.

Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
hehe. i was on mirc sc2 channel at 6am that morning when it was announced spamming YEAAAAH. but 3 years of w8ing and reading topics like "why DT model looks like this and lets learn counters to the units of a game that isnt even close to being finished" , tend to eat the soul of being exited and hyped over something. next time i plan to get hyped is when i read "BETA tomorrow" and thats only cause i got the key.
but u know what am exited about now.this.listen it to the end tell me it isnt epic.

The game's single player is broken into 3 parts, as well as the main history, and you play every race separately in each part.
But i agree in that it's a bit relative. On one hand, you are forced to buy the "expansions" to play all the races, but at least that means that the content can be much more developed, and the single player play system for the 3 races can be totally different.
Still, i think it's a good deal, as it's 3 times the SP content, with some expansion content in parts 2 and 3, and they're supposed to cost as expansions (of course, the engine is the same, and most of the balance was already done, so it makes sense for them to cost less than the 1st part).
-
Re: False Release Dates Piss Me Off
The thing is that everyone heard that the terran zerg and protoss caimpaigns were being split and assumed that meant less content. There having trouble realizing that a basket with 3 apples, a basket with 3 oranges and a basket with 3 pears is the same as 3 baskets with 1 apple, 1 orange and 1 pear each.

In addition, I think its a great deal when it comes to the multiplayer part. Even if the SP would somehow feel wattered down 1/3 each for whatever reason, I think the multiplayer of each expansion would get at least the same amount of improvement as what the SC1 to BW jump had.
I would not be surprised if blizzard goes as far as adding a race per expansion in multiplayer if the WoL lineup of units wont need any new additions. UED or Hybrids or Something completely surprising anyone?
